Avoid These 2 Ford F-150 And Maverick Trims Or You’ll Pay Way Over MSRP

There may be good truck deals right now, but the 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid is not one of them. According to new reports, it's the worst truck deal right now. See how much over MSRP you'll pay to get one. Ford has two on the list. Truck shoppers beware. 

Hybrid vehicles are hot right now, and electric models are not. That includes new truck hybrids, too. An updated list from Consumer Reports (by subscription) reveals the 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid is the worst new truck and one you should avoid. It's selling for the most over the manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of any new vehicle now.

Ford has another truck selling way over MSRP, the Ford Maverick. Check out the details if you are shopping for a new Ford pickup. 

Consumer Reports says, "The new-car market is recovering, with inventory and sales rising. But many cars, SUVs, trucks, and special-edition sports cars are still selling for well above sticker price." The Ford F-150 Hybrid tops the list. 

The 2024 Ford F-150 Hybrid is selling for 13% Over MSRP

The 2024 Ford F-150 SuperCrew XL Hybrid 5.5' Box 4WD trim has the highest dealer markup.

  • Average spent over MSRP: $6,312
  • Average transaction price: $53,707

Ford says, "The 2024 Ford F-150 PowerBoost is not your typical hybrid vehicle."

It combines a V-6 engine with an electric powertrain, delivering over 400 horsepower. The hybrid technology "provides a perfect blend of power and efficiency, making it a versatile option for various driving scenarios."

The Ford Hybrid is an efficient and capable truck for those who want the best of both worlds. It's no wonder it's so popular and in demand. 

What is the F-150 Hybrid fuel mileage?

The EPA estimates are 22/24 city/highway mpg and 23 combined mpg

The Ford Maverick is also in high demand.

How Popular Is The Ford Maverick?

I did a little digging and found a report from iSeeCars that lists the highest dealer markups in each state. The Maverick has the highest markup in four states.

  • Arkansas: Ford Maverick - 20.0% or $5,652 above MSRP
  • Idaho: Ford Maverick - 20.2% or $5,188 above MSRP
  • Montana: Ford Maverick - 19.7% or $5,714 above MSRP 
  • North Dakota: Ford Maverick- 23.8% or $6,077 above MSRP

After digging more into iSeeCars data, I found that Maverick has the highest dealer markup in Fresno-Visalia, California.

Ford Maverick is 36.1% over MSRP with an average price of $34,814 and MSRP of $25,588.

  8. Nissan Leaf: 6% Over MSRP
  9. Honda Prologue: 6% Over MSRP
  10. Kia K5: 6% Over MSRP

Consumer Reports says, "If you have your heart set on buying a (Ford F-150 Hybrid or Ford Maverick) this year, be prepared to pay significantly more—or choose one that isn't in high demand.

NOTE: CR says they omitted another in-demand pickup, the Ford F-250, which sells for 6 percent or more over MSRP.
