Valerian, Coolest Sci-Fi Film Since 5th Element, Features Lexus' Spindle Grill

Missing The Fifth Element? Can you make it to July?

The coolest Sci-Fi film headed our way will be directed by Luc Besson, creator/director of The Fifth Element. One glance at the trailer will bring back memories of Dallas, and his cab rides through a futuristic city. This time the single-seat pursuit craft the protagonist drives/flies was created in cooperation with Lexus.

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is set in a world 700 years in the future. Those readers who have never gotten over the Lexus spindle grill will be happy to know that they can write 700 more years of comments because it survives and is incorporated in a new form in the Sky Jet.

Lexus’ role was to help the team adapt the look and feel of a futuristic craft that would be believable. Suspension of disbelief is always required to enjoy a Sci-Fi film, story or graphic novel, but intuitively technology must be accepted by an audience. The technology in The Fifth Element was wonderfully believable. Commenting on the collaboration with Lexus, director Luc Besson said, “For this partnership we were looking for a brand that’s pioneering in innovation and technology, who is focused on the future more than the past.”

The movie debuts in July of 2017. Watch the trailer.
