Are you shopping for a new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, 2023 Forester, 2023 Outback, or 2023 Solterra EV? According to Edmund's updated research tool, the most interest among new car shoppers is again the Subaru Crosstrek. Still, the subcompact SUV doesn't appear on the top 20 most popular new model list until number twenty-three.

Subaru has no new models in Edmunds' top 20 most researched vehicles. They put together the list for shoppers "so you can tap into the collective wisdom of our shoppers to see what's trending and discover what vehicles grab your attention."

Why are no new Subaru models in Edmunds' top 20 vehicles list? Vehicle research among new car shoppers is one of many indicators of model popularity or availability. The automaker is selling its top three models as fast as it can get them from the factory. And there's good news for Subaru shoppers.

Subaru's new vehicle inventory is improving.

According to the latest report from Automotive News, Subaru of America saw the most significant improvement in new model inventory efficiency, climbing 8.4 points in May. The data comes from Cloud Theory, which provides automaker's comprehensive efficiency data. As inventory improves, so will Subaru's new model shopper consideration. Check out the report here.

2023 Subaru models are a top 20 no-show

Crosstrek is Subaru's number one researched new model.

The hot Crosstrek remains the most popular new Subaru model, and it will only get better with a complete remodel. New Base and Premium trim levels arrive now at U.S. retailers, and the Sport and Limited will arrive this summer. The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness comes this fall.

Edmunds says, "Compact and capable, the Subaru Crosstrek is an economical way to explore."

What is the 2024 Crosstrek pricing?

For 2024, the Crosstrek will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Wilderness trim levels and has a starting price of $26,290 (the same MSRP as the 2023 Base model equipped with the Lineartronic CVT automatic transmission).

The 2024 Crosstrek Premium has a starting price of $27,440, Sport ($30,290), and Limited ($32,190). Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,225). The all-new Crosstrek Wilderness costs $33,290, including dealer destination and delivery fees ($1,295).

Forester is Subaru's second most researched model.

The 2023 Subaru Forester is next and is now number twenty-four on the updated Edmunds list of the top fifty most researched new cars. The 2023 Subaru Outback is twenty-sixth, and the all-new Subaru Solterra EV is back on the list as the number thirty-two most researched new model.

The Forester remains popular with new compact SUV shoppers, but they have been in limited supply all year. But that could change as Subaru's new model inventory is improving.

New Subaru of America (SOA) President and CEO Jeff Walters says its new model inventory has improved significantly this year. Walters says. "Our production is improving. For the first time in a few years, Subaru Corporation is coming back to us and adding units back into our plan, and that hasn't happened for quite a while, so that's been good for us."

Edmunds says, "Standard all-wheel drive makes the Forester perfect for outdoorsy weekend warriors in any trim."

What is the 2023 Forester pricing?

The 2023 Forester comes in six trim levels; The Base Forester starts at $27,620, Premium ($30,620), Sport ($32,190), Limited ($34,300), Wilderness ($35,245), and Touring ($37,720). Pricing includes dealer fees ($1,225).

The Outback midsize SUV is below the Forester as the twenty-sixth most researched new car on the updated Edmunds list. The 2023 Outback received new upgrades and continues to be a popular model for Subaru of America.

Edmunds says, "The redesigned Outback offers plenty of SUV capability and a long list of desirable features."

What is the 2023 Outback pricing?

The 2023 Outback comes in nine trim levels for U.S. customers; the base trim is priced from $29,620, Premium ($31,920), new Onyx Edition with a 2.5-liter engine ($34,720), Limited ($36,520), Touring ($41,070), Outback Wilderness ($39,670), Onyx Edition XT ($39,820), Limited XT ($40,920), and Touring XT ($43,520). Pricing includes $1,225 destination and delivery fees.

Further upgrades are coming for the 2024 Outback models. You can read the latest Outback report here.

The 2023 Subaru Solterra EV appeared on Edmunds' most researched models list in May. It's the all-electric model's third time to make the list at number thirty-two in May.

Edmunds says, "At last, Subaru has gotten into the EV game with its all-new 2023 Solterra SUV. It comes from collaborating with Toyota, which builds its related bZ4X EV in the same plant."

What is the price of the 2023 Solterra?

The 2023 Solterra has three trim levels, Premium, Limited, and Touring. Pricing for the Solterra Premium trim level starts at $46,220. The Limited trim carries a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price of $49,720. Finally, the top-of-the-line Touring trim is priced at $53,220. Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,225).

The hot Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV continues to be Subaru of America's most popular pick with new car shoppers. The third-generation Crosstrek gets new upgrades and the all-new outdoor-themed Wilderness trim level. Check out the Subaru Report's 2024 Crosstrek pricing, improvements, and model guide here.
