2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker to Begin Production Later This Month

One of the biggest announcements at the 2013 SEMA Show in Las Vegas was the introduction of the 2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker and according to the Mopar gurus at Allpar, those Mopar muscle cars with the old school style hood will begin rolling off of the assembly line later this month.

When the 2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker was introduced at the 2014 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, the Chrysler Group promised that these models would be hitting dealerships during the first quarter of 2014. We are currently about a third of the way through the first quarter of 2014 and according to a report from Allpar; production of the Shaker Challenger will begin later this month with deliveries to dealerships beginning a few weeks later.

Should this be true, the 2014 Challenger Shaker models should begin reaching consumers by the end of February after the company has completed all of their internal quality control processes.

The 2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker is based on the existing Dodge Challenger R/T Classic and the most noticeable feature of this limited edition package is the prominent Shaker hood design. This large, black hood scoop is mounted to the top of the 5.7L Hemi V8 and extends through a hole in the hood to bring in 100% cold air to the engine for improved performance.

Since the engine moves as it performs, this scoop sticking through the hood moves as the engine revs hence the name “Shaker”. The exterior appearance package is capped off by unique striping around the Shaker scoop and along the roof and trunklid, a body colored grille surround, a gloss black fuel door, a black decklid spoiler and unique black and silver 20 inch wheels wrapped in high performance tires. The Challenger Shaker comes with all of the goodies of the Challenger R/T Classic on the inside but it also comes with the buyer’s choice of Slate Grey or Radar Red Nappa leather seats, an SRT-style flat bottomed three spoke steering wheel, a piston grip shifter (manual models only) and unique Shaker badging on the dash.

Finally, the Challenger Shaker comes with the performance improving features of the Super Track Pak - Goodyear Eagle F1 Super Car tires, a high performance steering setup, high friction brake pads, monotube shock absorbers tuned for improved handling performance and a three mode stability control system with a “full off” setting.

Once the 2014 Dodge Challenger Shaker begins reaching dealerships, the 2,000 units planned for production may go very quickly. The Shaker package adds just $2,500 to the price of the Challenger R/T Classic and considering the long list of features included in this hood-centric package – it is actually quite the deal. Also, in addition to all of the features of the new Shaker-equipped Challenger, there is the simple fact that these vintage themed Mopar muscle cars will quickly become collector’s items and there is a certain intangible gain with collectability of a brand new car.

Interestingly, Allpar also reports that the Mopar 14 Dodge Challenger will not begin production at the same time as the Dodge Challenger Shaker. The Mopar 14 comes standard with the new Shaker hood so you would think that production would overlap but with the Mopar 14 being a fully bespoke model limited to 100 units and fully customized for each individual owner – perhaps Chrysler is waiting to get the “easier” Challenger Shaker models under way before launching production of the custom built Mopar 14 Challengers.

I ordered my Plum Crazy Purple Shaker on January 10th. Haven't heard anything yet, other than confirmation of my order. This is like waiting for a baby!!!

Ray (not verified)    February 7, 2014 - 8:31PM

I also ordered a plum crazy shaker on 1/13/14. A few days later they said they couldn't get the color. Couple days later they said ok they could get it. Just spoke to the dealer says it is built and I will have it by the end of the month... We will see.

I got an e-mail a few days ago about the progress of my shaker. It is done with the frame and moved on to paint!

Last I read they were building 2,000. I'm guessing plum crazy sold out first that's why I had a hard time. Really the whole car is a mistery until we see it. If you look at the you tube video from the car show it had side exhaust. Don't think we are getting that.

I can't believe how little is being published about it. Just the "News Release' info from SEMA. Can't wait to see pictures of something other than just the one orange car. Has anyone found a sourse of information about them? My dealership knows less than I do.

A friend went to the dealer yesterday to see about ordering a shaker. The plum crazy is definitely no longer an available color. Guess that's good news for those of us who already ordered one.

Ron Holland (not verified)    February 12, 2014 - 6:19PM

Yes, I have received status reports as it has passed from planning to frame to paint ,trim and now quality inspection. It's a Automated e-mail.

That's great. My dealer said something about it shipping to N.J. Where it will sit for a while, I don't know why, as we are in N. Y.

I ordered my mine in Orange fully loaded with Boss radio. the Karhart to me sounded terrible I like treble and some balanced based but not just base where my window shake. You also give up the tire. When you guys reserve your order? Did dealer already have the cars on order? All dealers got them in 4 days. No person had time in March to get their order in.

I get plum crazy if i were a girl it is great color, i think the Orange is best color but bad for cops. if you guy got your cars confirmed congratulations looks like they will become quite valuable. Any ideas on how many miles you going to put on it. ARe you going to keep it D-1 car with only 20k miles on ever. They just sold Mustang Boss with 45,000 miles on it for 65k. Also the original Shaker are worth a fortune. i coudn't believe they were all sold out but luckily my dealer had ordered 2 in January. I almost had heart attack. i would not get challenger if couldn't not get the shaker i go back to jeep wrangler. there just are so special the regular RT i think are not as special in the way they look. Neither is SRt it hard to tell what it is just small SRT on the grill i think it has too much power you barely hit it and wheels just spin. Who knows the Shacker are far more rare there making 2k and sell for years and year not less then 3k of SRT. I like orange more then yellow bumble bee as well.

I ordered my on Monday in black... plum crazy was not a choice but if they sold out in 4 days in January how did I order mine this week? I guess it don't matter cause "I GOT MINE BICTHES"....I have every option but sunroof but that's ok cause my 11 R/Tc has one that I don't use i got the vin and the vot so its just a matter of the wait I just hope it doesn't take to long the dealer said 6 to 10 weeks GOD I HOPE IT DONT TAKE THAT LONG but it was they only one they could order.. come on dodge I need my car

Because your dealer ordered you Shaker in January, so when you went in and said i want this in this color they had already your car reserved for whoever was fast enough to get into dealership and buy the car. It wasn't made though yet until you places what you wanted in options on it. My dealer is huge dealership and ordered 2 one for head mechanic and one who ended up being me. they even told if you don't take the car we are sure the car will sell pretty quickly.

We are all very very lucky to be able to get one of these cars a collectable before they are even built!!.I placed my order 2 hours after the order blanks opened. my order sat for three weeks before i got my vin#,I was very nervous din't think i was going to get one than 9:00 on a thur night my sales person called me " I have good news you have a vin# wow what a night we all will be driving something very special .We are such big mopar fans here in Wisconsin,I have a 1970 numbers matching 383 4 speed air gabber Road Runner with 50,000 miles on her . I have to say this new Challenger may become closer to my heart esp. when i see my name on the window sticker. what I have on order is header orange,6 speed, hid headlights, nav, sun roof. The car is in Production Scheduled to be built on March 6th should be here end of March or first week of April .I will drive this car as they were built to drive ,but i agree i will slow it down before 40,000 .Again we all are very lucky to get one, may the MOPAR GODS look down on us!!!!!

I know feeling of hearing the demand of the car selling out in 4 days and then realizing you can't get one and how badly you wish you could. and also thinking great now if want one i have pay even more the stick price. Everyone was suppose to have chance to order theirs in March. Don't be upset about sunroof they leak and have a lot of problems when they get older. Besides did the Dukes of of Hazzard have a sunroof? I got mine fully loaded in orange I'm one of those people i have to everything on the vehicle i regret it if didn't. I have make request i don't want vin to have 666 or 13 in it. Harley throws up the vin if has 666 in it. I just wondering what my number car will be. They also make 440 you could drop into Shacker i don't think it would make it less valuable i just saw Cuda 1970 with 500 something ci in it and i coldnt belief the price they were asking $120,000. Also the 5.7 liter makes almost the same as old 440. Not sure if would do that i think i will happy with almost 400hp and i don't want 5 miles to gallon either. Dodge said it was rarest car they ever made. i wonder how many oranges were ordered like what was rarest color. i wonder why there is limit on colors did set aside a certain amount of paint for these cars. Also some old Cuda have gone as high as several million dollars. The one that are million are Cuda convertibles they only ever made 11 of them.

Spoke to a rep from dodge who says the cars are scheduled to hit the dealerships on 3/12...starting to get excited about it!

Bill Hughes (not verified)    March 3, 2014 - 1:52AM

I wonder when i will get mine but there showing at now at dealers so that is good cause Dodge said they wouldn't be on dealers lots till April, but they meant customers would, buy in March for April. That perfect time to get up north that when finally the salt and stones are off the road. I also saw Shaker with 45k miles on it for $49,000 and they made 3900 of them in 1970. It didnt hurt the car value either that a guy upgraded to 527cu. that car was selling for $120,000.00 It says in books some old Cuda and Dodges have gone for 200k- several million. And some cars will be crashed over that period. making them even rarer demand is other factor they sold out in 4 days that must be record. I think everyone got confused about making 100 because there demo car car said out of 100. I like orange over the yellow. The Bumble Bee car was pretty cool, but Dodge said Shaker was rarest car they ever made. I know old own are loved, but still think with new technology the new Shaker looks better. I also like electronic stability i think that will save a lot of cars from being wrecked. I like the fact the bumper are no longer steel and that they part of body of the car. I wondering how NADA will value the car will treat like RT will they lose it full value by using the same depriate formula for the classic. Ray when did actually order the car?

art (not verified)    March 12, 2014 - 6:42PM

My dealer was only allotted 1. I went this Saturday and ordered mine. Surprised no one had ordered one yet. Got conformation & vin today. Feeling very lucky. Orange, 6 speed manual :)

Bill (not verified)    March 13, 2014 - 12:10AM

I'm reading your blog and at first think it was my dealer telling me they only had one and i didn't get it. then realized it was you who posted it. I got confirmation and link to watch my car being built at factory, but it is only at scheduled to be built, then i goes under that a link frame, paint, and at the end of that it shipping and destination. I got mine in Header Orange with auto with the paddles, sunroof, boston, 730 radio positraction rear, i heard the Karma stereo and it totally bass the windows were shaking. i like nice treble and some bass, but not like that. i just want cruise with it most of time and not have shift it and my friend had auto mustang and that was a lot of fun especial at the lights. I want to drop 7 liter Hemi (426ci) in it one day, but probably will supercharge it first which will make it have more power then SRT. I never liked how simple SRT looked. I'd much rather have Shaker design. For all that money it only has small SRT in the grill. Someone got bumped out their car, because my dealer never ordered in January, but said they spent and sell million of dollars and would get the cars. but at first my order wouldn't go into the computer. i really didn't know for sure if actually get the car till last week when confirmed it on email. 8 weeks looks like time from order till at the dealership so it could be in May, but although i think dodge can really produce then pretty fast. Also dodge said if customer ordered them in March they be on dealer lots by April. Since al the dealers ordered them in January and some are even now on road in late February i cant see how they would as late as May being so early ordered.

I picked up my PCP Shaker on March 19th. I was amazed it was number 12. I have never been more excited about a car than with this one. I don't care what anybody says, Dodge made a kick ass street rod.

Bill Hughes (not verified)    March 31, 2014 - 11:04AM

Im still waiting for mine to be built i ordered March 7, i did get confirmation i do wonder what number it will be. The purple sold out already that might end up being the most valuable color. If you treat it right i could really be an investment but you have to keep really nice. Possibly 500,000 in 30 years. i could havce gotten SRT but for that much money and looks so simple, i the shaker looks so much better then RT or SRT. I plan to drop in 426ci eventual into it with 605hp.

art dye (not verified)    March 31, 2014 - 5:33PM

My shaker is in final inspection stage. Anyone know how lone until it is delivered after that stage?

Bill Hughes (not verified)    April 1, 2014 - 8:01PM
