The 2017 Subaru WRX and WRX STI pricing and new upgrades are announced.
The new 2017 Subaru WRX and WRX STI performance cars get new upgrades for improved safety. Blind Spot Detection/ Rear Cross Traffic Alert is now available on the base WRX STI. Reverse Automatic Braking is now available on WRX Limited with EyeSight. The 2017 Subaru WRX starts at $26,695 and 2017 WRX STI starts at $35,195.
The 2017 WRX still comes in standard, Premium and Limited trim lines, starting at an MSRP of $26,695, a $100 increase over the 2016 model. The 2017 WRX STI is still offered in standard and Limited trim lines starting at an MSRP of $35,195, up $500. Limited trim models maintain pricing from 2016 models ($39,995). Destination adds $850 for both models. No changes have been made to the powertrains of WRX and WRX STI. Reports of a 328hp 2.0-liter turbo boxer powerplant for WRX STI won’t happen for the 2017 model year.
What’s new for 2017?
On the inside, both 2017 WRX and WRX STI models come standard with new tricot headliners. The base WRX STI now features auto on/off headlights in auto mode position with windshield wiper operation. Power window auto up/down function on driver and front passenger windows with anti-pinch protection is now standard on all trim levels.
New Safety Tech
Subaru is all about safety and the 2017 Subaru WRX (with Sport Lineartronic transmission) now offers Reverse Auto Braking is now included on 2017 WRX Limited models equipped with EyeSight. Blind Spot Detection/ Rear Cross Traffic Alert is now available on the base 2017 WRX STI for the first time.
WRX models equipped with EyeSight now come with Steering Responsive Fog lights. This works when the fog lights are turned off and activates the left or right fog light independently, depending on the vehicle speed and steering angle. The feature provides enhanced illumination in the direction of the turn. The fog lights are pre-aimed for maximum coverage in corners.
The 2017 Subaru WRX and WRX STI get small price increases and new safety tech. 2017 models will arrive in Subaru showrooms this summer. Japan models come with even more safety upgrades than the U.S. spec models. Read about it here.
