Hennessey Performance has taken the 2013 SRT Viper and given it an extra shot of venom. What did the Texas performance shop do to increase hp and torque?
You could give Hennessey Performance a Hugo and they could turn it into a fire breathing sports car. But give the performance shop out of Sealy, Texas a supercar, and they will make it even faster. John Hennessey is all about making fast cars faster and that is what they have done with the 2013 SRT Viper. They took a stock 2013 Viper and gave it two upgrades that made a big difference. They put the SRT Viper on the dyno and showed a nice bump in horsepower and torque with the two engine upgrades. What did Hennessey do to get even more power from the new Viper?
An extra injection of venom adds power
As any tuner knows, if you can improve the way an engine breathes, it will improve performance. That’s exactly what Hennessey did to the Red Viper they upgraded recently. They took the 2013 Viper and upgraded the supercar with with 1.75 inch stainless steel long-tube headers and a 3 inch stainless steel exhaust system. The chassis dyno testing proved that this can make a big difference in rear wheel hp and torque.
The upgrades to the exhaust made a significant improvement to the stock SRT Viper. The Hennessey 2013 SRT Viper dyno sheet showed 503.75 stock rear wheel hp vs 527.50 hp with the Hennessey stainless steel headers and exhaust upgrades. The dyno sheet showed 505.53 stock rear wheel torque vs 532.62 torque with the Hennessey stainless steel headers and exhaust upgrades. That’s a nice bump in power from a seemingly insignificant upgrade.
The most powerful naturally aspirated engine in the world
What is most impressive, the SRT Viper produces this kind of power from a naturally aspirated engine. The newly updated V10 powerplant produces the most power of any naturally aspirated engine in the world. Hennessey has taken the powerful SRT Viper and injected even more venom into the supercar. The 2013 Hennessey Viper with long-tube headers and 3 inch exhaust upgrade gives the Viper even more bite.
For those who want even more power from their 2013 SRT Viper, Hennessey offers the Venom 700R that produces 725 hp and 695 lb ft of torque. It has a sprint time of 0-60 mph in just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 216 mph. And for the most extreme version, Hennessey offers a twin-turbo upgrade Venom 1000 that pumps out an incredible 1,120 hp and 1,092 lb ft of torque. It has a neck-snapping 0-60 time of 2.7 seconds and a quarter mile time of 9.7 seconds at 152 mph.
