Subaru markets the new 2017 WRX STI to future performance fans on the ski slopes in a brilliant way in Japan. It’s called Subaru’s Galande Taxi. Subaru gives skiers free lifts in their all-wheel-drive vehicles up the ski slopes. What better way to show the all-wheel-drive capabilities of the WRX STI, Outback and Crosstrek. It’s brilliant marketing as winter sports are in high gear in Japan.
Brilliant marketing
What better way to show the STI’s performance than to power through deep snow on the ski slope? They bring in All Japan Rally Championship driver Kamata Takuma who takes a 2016 Subaru WRX STI sedan and thrills skiers at the 2017 “Slope Taxi” events. Winter sports enthusiasts get to see the champion demonstrate the STI’s all-wheel-drive capabilities in the deep snow at ski resorts throughout Japan. By the looks of Takuma in the video below, we aren’t sure who’s having more fun.
The WRX STI is a big hit
Subaru’s “Galande Taxi 2017” events are held in two locations, and for the first time near Tokyo. It’s the STI these young skiers want to see most. The young generation of future car buyers get to experience the new performance sedan’s AWD performance in extreme snow conditions as it powers up the ski slope to the top of the mountain.
It’s a brilliant way to market the 2017 Subaru WRX STI to future performance fans in Japan. When the young skiers see the performance sedan in the snow, you can bet they will think of the WRX or WRX STI when they buy a new car when they get out of college. Check out Subaru’s AWD performance in the snow in the video below.
