The Best And Worst New Subaru Outback Features

What are the best and worst new 2024 Subaru Outback features? There is one that customers loathe and one they love.

The Subaru Outback is the top-selling model in Subaru of America's lineup, and the midsize SUV has some great features. There is one new fuel-saving feature that customers loathe and one new feature they love.

The worst new 2024 Subaru Outback feature.

I covered the worst new 2024 Outback feature in a previous report, and here is a summary. New Subaru Outback owners tell me they despise the stop/start system on the midsize SUV more than anything else on the car.

I have discussed before that the Auto-Stop-Start is one of the new Subaru vehicles' most controversial fuel-efficiency features. The Outback, Forester, Crosstrek, and Legacy all come with auto stop/start.

Many Subaru owners say they don't like the car stopping and starting because they fear the system could fail and the engine won't restart and leave them stranded. They also consider the extra wear on the Subaru Boxer engine and starter.

And many Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, and Legacy owners say they don't like the car stopping and starting because it shakes the car every time the engine starts back up.

A new YouTube video report from Subaru insider Alex Prestigiacomo discusses the Outback remote start from your iPhone feature. Here is how it works.

You can program the new 2024 Subaru Outback climate control from a smartphone, set the windshield defroster and heater fan speed, lock and unlock the car, and turn on the lights. The remote feature comes with Subaru's Starlink safety and security. Starlink is free for the first three months you own the car and requires a subscription afterward.

The video below gives more information on remotely starting your Subaru using your phone. The remote start Subaru app is called MySubaru. It's more than just the best feature on the 2024 Subaru Outback. The Remote Start from your iPhone feature is available on most 2020 and new Subaru models (Some 2019 Subaru models like the Subaru Forester and the Subaru Ascent).

Your Subaru must have a push-button start to use the MySubaru app. You can also remote start your Subaru with a separate key fob. This remote-start Subaru key fob does not come with your new Outback but can be purchased separately from a Subaru retailer.

The worst 2024 Subaru Outback feature is the Auto-Stop-Start. The best new 2024 Subaru Outback feature is the Remote start from your iPhone.

Your turn.

Question? What do you know about 2019 outback with the starlink media screen that stops working. It has a mind of its own with a foggy rectangle with weird circles in it. My local Subaru dealer will not get back to me on it. I have googled it and apparently there is a law suit going on in the States, but I'm in Canada. Any suggestions???

I hate the auto stop start because the restart pause can be dangerous if you need rapid acceleration to get across a busy street/thoroughfare.
I wish I could permanently disable it instead of always having to remember to turn it off.

The auto start/stop feature is probably the worst feature on the Subaru, IMO. I picked up an Autostop Eliminator for $100 and it fixed this issue once and for all. I tried to leave a link to their website but this site said no. It's the business name dot com. Hope this helps.

I have a 2020 Subaru Outback, with 16000 miles. At 16000, there is a loud popping noise, when the car is placed in reverse. Is anyone out there having the same problem?
