This week Torque News had a unique opportunity to test-drive and review the 2020 Aston Martin Vantage. In this review I am focusing on what standard in this $152,995 sports car and what options raise the price tag to $184,017.
In the past 70 years, James Bond's favorite brand has already produced more than 36,000 vehicles bearing the exclusive Aston Martin Vantage label. At Aston Martin, Vantage is a signature that refers to the most exclusive and powerful models in the range. In 1950, DB2 inaugurated the Vantage label. This program, supervised by engine manufacturer Robert Eberan von Eberhorst, aimed to increase the performance of the Newport Pagnell GT.
In 2003 the new small Aston Martin with a V8 engine was called Vantage: an entire program. Even today, the name Vantage designates a model in its own right. In total, in the pas 70 years, Aston Martin has produced more than 36,000 vehicles bearing its prestigious label.
If BMW recently upset the stylistic codes with its new 4 Series Coupé, Aston Martin did the same a few years ago with the Vantage. When the new Aston Martin Vantage was revealed in 2017, so were its new styling cues . Like the BMW 4 Series, the new Vantage has a gaping grille and slimmed down optics that give it a much less elegant face than the previous model.
Thanks to the help of the Germans, the 2020 Aston Martin Vantage is finally measuring itself against the elite of sports cars when it comes to technology. Under the administration of CEO Andy Palmer Aston Martin spent without looking too much, but it innovated and dared to take risks, as it testified by signing a partnership with Mercedes-Benz for the supply of powertrains and technology. The 2020 Aston Martin Vantage was thus born from this agreement.
Completely redesigned for the 2019 model year, the Vantage goes through 2020 relatively unchanged, except for the addition of new carbon-ceramic brakes and accessory packages. At a starting price of around $152,995 and can quickly exceed $184,000 once equipped, the Vantage is the gateway to the British manufacturer by being the cheapest Aston Martin.
Exterior and Interior Design of the 2020 Vantage
The exterior of the 2020 Aston martin Vantage is beautiful, and simplistic. The front end is uncluttered. I find the 2020 Vantage more beautiful when I look at it from the back, especially because of the vehicle's bulging fenders and sleek, modern silhouette.
Know that Aston Martin remains the leader in terms of the customization of its models. Through the Q Division - inspired by the James Bond 007 films - consumers can fully determine the look of their Vantage, from a myriad of color choices to the many textural combinations in the cabin.
The 2020 Vantage competes with models like the Porsche 911, the Jaguar F-Type and the Mercedes-AMG GT.
The 2020 Vantage has a standard two-person seating cabin.

The Clamshell hood is one-piece aluminum and the vehicle has 20' Alloy Pirelli wheels.
The safety of the 2020 Vantage is provided by its Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control and Positive Torque Control. The Vantage Roadster can be configured on the Aston Martin website . As is now the tradition, the manufacturer offers pre-established equipment combinations in addition to the selection starting from scratch. The latter first allows you to choose between a tight or wide mesh grille, then a body color among the 54 available. Eight types of rims are available for as many soft top colors and it is possible to opt for gray, black or carbon fiber for the sills and other details such as the door handles. The rear lights can be smoked. Holes can be added to the hood. Still ventilation, the side extractors can take two forms. The engine bay can be trimmed with carbon fiber.
In the passenger compartment, the range of customization of the upholstery is just as wide between colors, fabrics, types of seats, patterns embroidered on the headrests or the headliner. Finally, many options of luggage and other accessories can be selected. The configurator is therefore particularly exhaustive for a manufacturer also offering tailor-made customization via its Q department, en
