Toyota has just made the first major changes to its Corolla Hatchback range for 2023. Remember that Toyota had already unveiled its plans for the sedan of the same name, the compact that switches to exclusively hybrid and integral (or four-wheel drive) mode for the coming 2023 year.
On the other hand, the Corolla Hatchback continues its journey with a more conventional powertrain, the naturally aspirated 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that still delivers 169 horsepower and 151 lb-ft of torque, all via a continuously variable gearbox, which also offers the change of “virtual gears” via the paddles housed behind the steering wheel on the most opulent liveries in the range. In short, what emerges from this announcement is that the six-speed manual transmission is no longer part of the small car catalog… with the exception of the extremely rare and spicier GR Corolla which is also arriving this year.
The new 2023 Corolla Hatchback also receives a slight sweep at the front with a slightly redesigned bumper and at the rear, as well as new 18-inch wheels, which are painted black. Also note the availability of two new body colors, namely Fire Red and Shock Blue Metallic, but for the rest, the Corolla Hatchback retains its friendly face.
Regarding the interior, the 2023 Corolla now comes standard with the brand's multimedia system and even the TSS 3.0 suite of safety devices (for Toyota Safety Sense 3.0). What's more, the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems are wireless.
Going back to this multimedia system of the brand, the latter now offers more functions via the screen or even via the application for smart devices. It is possible to access the vehicle health report or maintenance schedules in particular, or to monitor remotely with Remote Connect (start/stop the engine, lock/unlock the doors, locate the vehicle, monitor guest drivers, ice conditions), not to mention the Safety Connect functions (automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle locator, emergency assistance button and enhanced roadside assistance). As for the Drive Connect system, it adds cloud navigation with Destination Assist.
You can order a copy of the Corolla Hatchback now, with the car available in four trim levels: S, SE, SE Upgrade and XSE.
