The designers of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios surprised everyone at the 2010 Los Angeles Design challenge by presenting the 2035 Mercedes-Benz Biome. The car simply mimics the nature is fully integrated into the ecosystem following nature's example.

The Mercedes-Benz BIOME hybrid grows completely organically

On the road Biome hybrid comes from pure oxygen and at the end of its driving life the car can be composted or used as a building material. Hubert Lee, head of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Carlsbad in the company's statement tells that their vision was to design a future car which will be in complete harmony with the nature. "The Mercedes-Benz BIOME is a natural hybrid technology, which is part of the ecosystem of our earth. It grows and grows like the leaves on a tree," said Lee.

The 2010 Los Angeles Design Challenge had called for new safety requirements. It called for a safe and comfortable 2+2 small cars with good handling and premier design to create the vision of a light car that weights only 1,000 pounds.

Mercedes-Benz BIOME is built from a very light material called biofibres. Its US version will only weight 875,5 pounds. The company says this material is much lighter than plastic and stronger than steel. This material, from which many future cars may be built, absorbs solar energy.

The company has not yet released any information about when the Biome may come out. However, since Dimler has titled its information release as Design-Hybrid 2035, it may be safe to assume that Biome hybrid may come out in 2035. Perhaps, it may be here sooner.
