Aston Martin does not say how many cars it intends to sell in India, but the luxury car maker today announced its entry to India and said it plans to sell its most expensive car one-77 among three other models.
The company says it will launch three models in India. Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini and Bugatti are already in India selling high end luxury performance vehicles. This segment of the auto market is growing increasingly important in India
India is becoming next China for the international automakers. As the country's economy improves luxury car-makers from U.S. and Europe see it as a new vast market for generating new sales. Aston Martin's entrance to India is yet another statement that the country as an important auto market simply can not be ignored. Aston's chief commercial officer Michael van der Sande told AFP that "India represents a new opportunity" for them.
Aston will introduce three models in in the Indian luxury-auto sector. One of the most expensive will be the One-77, which is priced at 200 million rupees. That makes it $ 4.5 million U.S. dollars. The company will also introduce its V8 Vantage and the Rapide.
One-77 was introduced last year and was almost sold out. The company delivered its first One-77 on January of 2011. The One-77 was seen in front of the Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo without manufacturer’s license plates.
Aston Martin has priced V8 Vantage at 15.5 million rupees, which is about 350,000 U.S. dollars. The Rapid is priced at 21.5 million Indian rupees, which is about half a million U.S. dollars.
The British luxury car maker has sold 5,000 automobiles to clients in the Asian continent, USA and Europe but the company does not make any predictions of how many cars it intends to sell in India.
