Bill Faughnan from Fort Pierce, Florida tells how he acquired his 1966 Buick Skylark GS post coupe for only 250 dollars.
Complete Name of the car
1966 Buick Skylark GS post coupe. 455 Buick Engine with a turbo 400 trans and a 12 bolt rear.
Why is this car so special for you?
She is our daily driver we call her Blaze. She is our family car, we have no SUV or minivan.
What is unique about this 1966 Buick?
It is one of less than 1735 post-coupe skylarks with the GS option. The 66 GS came with boxed convertible frames.
When did you buy it?
I bought it over 15 years ago and have less than 6K in it and have put over 60,000 miles on it.
In what condition was the vehicle before and what work did you do to it?
I paid someone $500 to paint it. Another person did the upholstery. The rest I did myself.
Any interesting particular story associated with the car?
I have owned my 70 GS455 since I was 15. The 66 showed up on a flat bed in front of the new house that was built next door and placed in the owners garage. I moved back to New York then back to Florida when he found me and told me to come get the car for 250 bucks because he was turning his garage into a man cave.
Little bit about you, city and state.
I am a 48-year-old refuse truck mechanic for the city of Fort Pierce, Florida. I am married with children from 2 to 17 years old.
Is there a youtube video of this car that can go with the story?
Is there anything else you would like to add about your car?
I have owned a few nice cars in my life, but the 66 Buick GS appeals to so many people of all sorts and I spend a lot of time answering all kinds of questions about "Blaze".
