Aston Martin exec selling his Rapide model to help the Japan victims

The Aston Rapide owned by the company boss Ulrich Bez will be sold during an auction organized by Bonhams, the money obtained after selling the car being intended to reach Japan in the form of an aid.

After the earthquake shook Japan back in early March, several car companies came up with consistent donations to help the country and survivors, seriously affected by the disaster. BMW, for instance, offered over a cash aid of 1.4 million dollars, whereas Daimler came up with almost 2 million euros and also supplied 50 vehicles. Now, it appears that the Aston Martin executive director, Ulrich Bez, will auction the bespoke Rapide model he currently owns and he'll donate the entire sum to the Japanese authorities.

The 4-door coupe-shaped supercar, which Bez has used on a daily basis since 2009, features a Concours Blue exterior paint job mated with an abstemious Obsidian black interior boasting stitched, premium leather upholstery, pure essence walnut trims and a state-of-the-art DVD multimedia system, available for the backseat passengers as well.

Ulrich Bez added: "Nobody could have failed to be moved by the recent events in Japan and we at Aston Martin are no exception. The Bonhams Aston Martin Auction seems the perfect platform to encourage the extended Aston Martin family to support this cause, so we have decided to auction my Rapide which I have used in my role as Chief Executive to represent Aston Martin at numerous events in both UK and Europe. I hope this superb car will raise a substantial amount to help make a difference."

The barter will be held by Bonhams on 21st May in Newport Pagnell, UK. To support the cause, the auction house will donate the usual commission along the cash obtained after the sale of the Rapide to ensure as much money as possible for the troubled Japanese.
