Yesterday we had a look at the third official GM teaser video of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette that focuses on the interior of the new American supercar and today, we get a look at some basic line drawings of the new Corvette front end from the Facebook page of well known automotive paparazzi Chris Doane.
This newest piece of the 2014 C7 Corvette puzzle comes by means of what looks to be a technical bulletin that will be sent to dealerships to explain how to install brake ducting on the new Corvette. This gives us a look at the driver’s side lower control arm and the slotted rotors with large brake calipers but more importantly – we get a look at a drawing of the front end of what we can only guess is the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette.
What we can see in the line drawing of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is headlights that stretch back along the front fenders (as opposed to the wider, fatter headlights found on the current Corvette) with a pointier nose than we see on the C6. The grille opening looks like it will be more pronounced on the C7 than with the current Corvette while the basic shape of the point where the fenders meet the hood will have a peak design similar to the current Corvette. What appears to be new and unique to the upcoming C7 Corvette is the addition of some large vents mounted in the inset front edge of the hood along with a set of “gills” just behind the front wheel openings that are larger and more dramatic than those found on the current Corvette. We can expect that, like previous generations, the gills of the C7 Corvettes front fenders will travel back along the body to form the side lines of the new American supercar.
Some expected that when the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette was unveiled, we would see some sort of ultra futuristic supercar that looked like nothing the world had seen before but if this drawing is any indication of what is coming – the C7 Corvette will follow similar basic design themes from the current generation while adding a new front and rear end that will allow the 2014 Corvette to easily stand out in a crowd. These drawings combined with those few spyshots and teaser images that we have seen would indicate that the C7 Corvette will feature a sharpened version of the styling introduced with the C6 Corvette but from what we have seen, the 2014 Corvette appears to be headed in a very good direction.
There is also the possibility that this drawing shows a different front end design than what we will actually see when the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette debuts. General Motors may have expected that this artwork would leak out so to protect the look of the C7 Corvette, the artwork is edited to not show exactly what the new supercar will look like. However, there is a better chance than not that the somewhat crude line drawing on the right side offers us the best look that we have gotten thus far at the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette.
In case you are reading this and you somehow are not sure, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette will make its grand debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show at Detroit’s Cobo Hall.
