We have talked a great deal about small scale versions of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat recently, but for those Hellcat fans who prefer the 4-door variety – the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat will be offered as part of the new Hitch & Tow Racing Edition from Greenlight Collectables.
There Dodge Challenger and Charger in their SRT Hellcat trim have proven to be incredibly popular at dealerships around the country, but with the insane popularity of the full sized cars has come a high demand for small scale versions of these 707 horsepower beasts. Mattel was the first to get the Hellcat Challenger and Hellcat Charger to the diecast toy market, and those two cars have become very hard to find, but more importantly, some diecast collectors want more detail from their miniature Mopar.
For those folks, we announced that Greenlight Collectables will soon be offering a Hellcat Challenger in TorRed, but even before the first Greenlight Hellcat has hit the market – there is a second supercharged Charger toy on the way.
Dodge Charger Hellcat Racing Edition Hitch & Tow
The second and newest Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat from Greenlight Collectables will be offered as part of the new Racing Edition of the Hitch & Tow series. As the name “Hitch & Tow” might lead you to believe, this Charger comes with a Ram 1500 and an enclosed car trailer – both of which have a similar Mopar Racing exterior design.
The Hellcat Charger is the most detailed of the package, with yellow lettered Goodyear Eagle tires and a spread of sponsor-style logos around the exterior. Also, the hood will open to expose a tiny little Hellcat Hemi and for those unsure, the Greenlight enclosed trailers do open – so you can load your Hellcat into the trailer and tow it away with the tiny Ram 1500.
The release dare for this new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Hitch & Tow Racing Edition is currently unavailable, but I would expect that they will arrive later this calendar year. When they do, Greenlight will have two Hellcat Charger options so, with any luck, a Hellcat Challenger will be coming from GL in the near future.
The first Hellcat Charger that we discussed a few weeks back comes in an individual package, which will cost you roughly $5-8 depending where you are shopping. Since the Hitch & Tow Hellcat Charger comes in a package with the enclosed trailer and the Ram 1500, it costs a little more – typically around $16-20.
Other than these two Greenlight 1/64th scale diecast cars, the options for the Hellcat Charger are much slimmer than those of the Hellcat Challenger. The Charger is available from Hot Wheels and now Greenlight, as well as coming in plastic form from Jada. On the other hand, the Challenger SRT Hellcat is available from Hot Wheels in 1/64th scale and in plastic RC form from Jada – but the Hellcat Challenger is also available as a 1/24th scale diecast from Jada.
The downside to all of this diecast Hellcat news is that the popularity of the 707hp Challenger and Charger has led to a high level of demand for toys of these cars – so when the Greenlight Hellcat Charger does hit shelves, it will be a hot commodity among collectors.
In other words, the Hellcat toys are getting more plentiful, but they are still going to be hard to find at your local store.
