The April Hellcat of the Month as picked by the members of the SRT Hellcat Facebook page has picked this beautiful B5 Blue Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat, owned by Glen Watson.
Each month, TorqueNews works with the members of the SRT Hellcat Group Facebook page to choose the Hellcat of the Month. The members are asked to nominate 5 Hellcat cars owned by active members of the online community and once those 5 nominees are decided – the members vote on their favorite Hellcat-powered Dodge from the group.
In the April Hellcat of the Month nominations, we had 5 Hellcat Chargers selected to move onto the voting round and when the final vote was cast – Glen Watson’s Hellcat Charger won by a heathy margin. Glen’s monster Mopar sedan grabbed 44% of the votes while second place came in around 16%.
After the members selected Glen Watson’s Dodge Charger as the April Hellcat of the Month, I reached out to him for the story on his high performance sedan and to get more information on what allows this 4,500lb Dodge sedan to hit 182 miles per hour in a standing half mile.
The Story of Glen Watson’s Hellcat Charger
First, I asked Glen what made him decide to buy this Hellcat Charger, and he explained that he had two key reasons and you’ll find them below in his words.
1) I've always loved and owned several "super sedans" - and when the Charger Hellcat came out, I knew it was time for my 2010 CTS-V to go!
2) My dad owned a 1969 Charger R/T 440 magnum and I heard countless stories about it growing up!
Next, I asked Glen about the story of owning his Hellcat, what he has done and what he plans to do going forward.
I purchased my Hellcat in August of 2015 and after my first half mile race in October of 2015 I found out that 707 hp just wasn't enough!
My first mods came that next February in the way of a Forza Tuned Stage 4R package which later turned into a Stage 4X package (nitrous added). In this configuration the car went a best of 182 mph in the half mile at NoFlyZone Midwest in Rantoul, IL (Sept 2016) and was the winner of "Fastest 4 door vehicle" at WannaGoFast half mile race in French Lick, IN (Oct 2016).
So far the car has only been raced in the half mile but after doing some beefing up of the drive train over the winter I plan on also hitting the 1/4 mile this year. The car is currently in the hands of Tim Barth where it is getting a few "minor" upgrades.
When finished, my list of mods will include:
Ray Barton Racing 426 stroker motor with billet crank,
Ray Barton Racing custom camshaft and pushrods,
Cylinder heads ported and polished by Thitek
Ported and polished super charger
Nitrous Outlet custom spray bar system
NOS progressive nitrous controller

I would like to thank Sumit Goyal for nominating me, everyone who voted for me, and my father Carroll Watson for genetically passing on the speed bug to me!
So, from everyone at TorqueNews and the Hellcat Group Facebook page, congratulations to Glen Watson’s Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat for being the Hellcat of the Month for April 2016.
