Chevrolet has previewed the first of their customized Camaro show cars that will debut later this month at SEMA and in addition to a handful of components from the brand’s accessory catalog, this car introduces the world to the new “Shock” exterior color – coming to dealers early next year.
The SEMA Show in Las Vegas kicks off later this month and when it does, we can be sure that Chevrolet will have a spread of modified Corvette and Camaro show cars on display. There will likely be some trucks and some small cars as well, but with SEMA focusing on performance, the Camaro and Corvette are bound to be the key focus of GM’s large floorplan.
Today, the company previewed one of the cars that will be on display at SEMA, with the unique 2019 Chevrolet Camaro SS shown above showcasing the newest exterior color option. It is called “Shock” while there are some other upgrades on this muscle car, there is no question that the production-ready paint will be the star of this act.
“There’s a fresh look for the 2019 Camaro, which is restyled, reinvigorated and offers more choices and new technologies,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet Car and Crossover Marketing. “It’s the perfect canvas for personalization, and the new Shock color and available accessories demonstrate only some of the possibilities customers have to make the Camaro entirely theirs.”
Camaro in Shock
I am not sure if this new color is yellow or green, but there is no question that Shock is shockingly bright. It looks like the original color of highlighter marker – the kind of color that glows in the dark. For buyers who want a “notice me color”, this is it and I suspect that it will prove to be a popular option with 2019 Camaro buyers.
Aside from the new paint, this Camaro SS headed to SEMA 2018 features a new front fascia and a bowtie badge located in the upper grille. Since the new SS front end has debuted with the gigantic grille opening with a black bar running through the middle, carrying the bowtie badge. This has proven to be a point of criticism with the folks who don’t like the new face of the Chevy muscle car, but the front end being displayed at SEMA “fixes” those problems. This concept front fascia has a more-distinct separation between the upper and lower grille while maintaining the basic shape of the lower front fascia.
Frankly, I like the look of this concept front end more than the production 2019 Camaro SS front end, as I prefer the tradition bowtie location and the clear split in the grille openings. Even if this is only offered as an aftermarket accessory, giving owners a chance to have this tradition front end design could help improve sales – even if only by a small margin.
