Octane Edition adds unique wheels, stripes, badges and interior bits, giving the Hellcat Charger a modified appearance inside and out.
Dodge has announced the newest package for the SRT Hellcat Charger and we are sorry to report to fans of the world’s fastest sedan that the Octane Edition doesn’t add any extra power. The wheels included in the package arguably improve performance, but all-in-all, this is an appearance package, so the Charger fans who are eagerly awaiting similar power to the Challenger will have to keep on waiting.
However, any Hellcat Charger fans who want to buy a 707-horsepower super sedan with a menacing, aftermarket look – the new Octane Edition might be perfect.
“In the world of muscle cars, limited editions are valued by enthusiasts for their uniqueness and collectability, both today and in the future,” said Tom Sacoman, Director of Product, Passenger Car Brands, Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT – FCA US LLC. “The 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition is the newest factory-custom model designed for our performance customers who want to stand apart from the pack.”
Hellcat Charger Octane Edition
The 2019 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Octane Edition begins on the outside, where buyers can pick either Pitch Black or White Knuckle. The package then adds full-length satin black center stripe with Octane Red accents, black exterior badges from front to rear, a satin black rear spoiler, Octane Red Brembo brake calipers and 20x9.5-inch “cross brace” wheels, similar to those offered on the Challenger 1320. These wheels have knurled beads to help prevent the tires from slipping on the rim under hard acceleration, leading to better launches at the track.
On the inside, the Octane Edition Charger Hellcat features SRT Performance seats with a Houndstooth insert that has never been offered for the supercharged sedan, along with a Hellcat logo embroidered on the seat back and red accent stitching on the body of the seats. That red stitching is continued throughout the cabin while a black-on-black instrument panel badge, gloss black interior accents and red seat belts finish out the package.
Of course, those package features are in addition to all of the key aspects of the Hellcat Charger, such as the 6.2-liter Hemi with 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, a quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission, adaptive suspension and a premium UConnect infotainment system.
The Octane Edition is available for orders now and will continue to be offered through the end of the 2019 model year, with the first units expected to arrive this fall. The package costs $1,495, which isn’t a bad deal for unique wheels, stripes, badges and interior appointments, so for a Hellcat sedan buyer who wants the custom look, this package could prove to be a very popular option.
