The Fiat brand has been turning heads in the US as the Italian compact makes its return to the American market but as the 2011 Geneva Motor Show opened this morning, Fiat is turning heads with a sexy coupe concept based on the 2012 500 with help from Zagato.
The Fiat 500 Coupe by Zagato is only a concept, calling on the overall look of the current production Fiat 500, but adding a sleek rear end with the signature Zagato “double bubble” roofline. This Fiat 500 Coupe Concept wears the coupe shape well, with the front end looking identical to the production 500 hatchback. The exterior is finished off with a set of unique double spoke 17” aluminum wheels wrapped in performance tires, adding a sinister look to this compact coupe. Most importantly, this Zagato-built Fiat 500 has been converted from a hatchback to a coupe without killing the interior space, with a 2+2 seating layout offering room for four and some storage room to boot.
In addition to the unique look, the Fiat 500 Coupe by Zagato receives a special high performance version of the TwinAir two-cylinder turbocharged engine. The tiny turbo motor churns out an impressive 105 horsepower and this version of the 2-cylinder turbocharged engine has never before appeared in a production Fiat vehicle.
Unfortunately, the Fiat 500 Coupe by Zagato is currently only a concept but with Fiat promising more versions of the new 500 over the next few years, perhaps this Coupe by Zagato could be providing Geneva show-goers with a look into the future of the Fiat brand.
