The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro COPO drag racing package is easily the nastiest of all of the 6th gen models and the first video of the new Chevrolet race car has hit the internet – giving us an eyeful and an earful of the quickest of the 2016 Camaros cleaning off the tires before a quarter mile run.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro COPO was introduced at the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas with help from NHRA driver Courtney Force. We learned all of the vital details on the 2016 COPO Camaro back in November, but since it was introduced at a convention and not at a drag strip, we didn’t get to see the new drag car in action.
Fortunately, the video below showing the 2016 COPO Camaro in action hit the internet this morning and the new race-only muscle car looks and sounds incredible. The bad news is that, for whatever reason, we only see the 2016 COPO Camaro clean the tires off. The video does not continue on to show the run and at the end of the video, the Chevrolet Performance logo comes up. This leads me to believe that this is an official GM video, but I haven’t been able to find it on any of the official GM YouTube accounts.

So, GM is obviously testing the 2016 COPO Camaro at the race track and we have both images and this sole video to prove it. Right now, we only have video of the COPO Camaro doing this quick burnout, but I would imagine that it is only a matter of time before General Motors puts the finishing touches on a longer video – one which shows the quickest of the 2016 Camaro coupes dashing down the quarter mile.
In the meantime, we will all have to watch this burnout video over and over and over, until we have a longer video of the 2016 COPO Camaro rocketing down the quarter mile.
