The performance world is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, but the automotive artists from Gurnade have offered up an incredible rendering of what they think the GT350 will look like – and I love what they have come up with as it is (in my opinion) the most realistic looking GT350 rendering thus far.
The 2015 Ford Mustang is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated American cars ever and in addition to the arrival of the next generation pony car, enthusiasts are excited to see what the Motor Company has in plan for the highest performance Mustangs. We have had chances to see the car expected to be called the Shelby GT350 in both still spy shots and videos, but they were all heavily clad in the thick black camo material that keeps us guessing. Fortunately, the auto design experts at Gurnade have penned a picture of what they think the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang will look like when it arrives.
Gurnade is a well known auto industry design company and TorqueNews readers might recognize the name from the SEMA-bound widebody Corvette that we previewed a few weeks back. That widened blue Corvette looked great on paper, but a modified Corvette Stingray doesn’t grab quite as much attention as a vision of the new Shelby GT350 package that will be applied to the 2015 Ford Mustang.
The Gurnade 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang
The skilled automotive artists at Gurnade used the aforementioned spy shots and videos to get the best idea possible of what the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang will look like when we finally see one without the black camo. The result is a car that looks fantastic while looking very much like a car that can and will see production. While some designers and artists have drawn up new Shelby Mustangs that are far too radical to see production, the Gurnade Mustang looks realistic enough that it could have been put together by a Ford designer.
Up front, Gurnade pictures a front end that is still very similar to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT, but their Shelby GT350 has an obvious touch of aggressive that I would expect to see improve cooling and aerodynamics. The upper grille appears to be identical in its basic form, with a large central area flanked by two smaller areas and separated by a pair of angled bars, but unlike the Mustang GT, the Shelby GT350 has a Cobra logo set to the side rather than the running pony right in the middle. Along the bottom of the front end we see our most significant differences, with the Gurnade GT350 having a larger central opening and larger side openings than the Mustang GT. In addition to more aggressive styling lines through the lower front fascia, there is also a chin spoiler that is more aggressive and reaches further towards the ground than the Mustang GT.

Next, while we only have this one rendering from Gurnade of the 2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, it appears as though it has a unique hood with a rear facing vent in the middle – similar to past Shelby Mustangs. We can also see large SVT badged wheels that are probably nice and light along with a lower side skirt that – like the front chin spoiler – is more aggressive than the standard Mustang form.
Finally, the Gurnade Shelby GT350 Mustang is finished in a bright red paint scheme with white strips that seems ideal for a modern high performance Mustang.
While some critics of the 2015 Ford Mustang are hoping that the 2016 Shelby GT350 is substantially more unique than what we can see above, the spy shots and Nurburgring videos of the next gen super-Stang lead me to believe that the Gurnade image could be very close to the real thing.
