The 2015/2016 Ford Shelby GT350 was designed to be the ultimate road racing muscle car so when building up the new Shelby Mustang, the folks at Hennessey aimed to add power without adding weight over the front end and they succeeded – lifting the output to 575 horsepower and 511lb-ft of torque through exhaust and tuning efforts.
Whether you are building a Ford Mustang, a Chevrolet Corvette, a Ford F150, a Dodge Challenger or any of the other vehicles included in the catalog from Hennessey Performance, the odds are good that the Texas tuner has a high performance package that will make your vehicle one of the most powerful on the road. In most cases, Hennessey uses either a supercharger or a turbocharger setup to add big power, but those forced induction goodies add significant amounts of weight to the vehicle.
In the case of the new Shelby GT350 Mustang, it was important for the company to add power without adding weight, as that added weight upsets the perfect balance of this corner-killing muscle car. With that in mind, Hennessey tuned the new Shelby Mustang to make a fair deal more power without any heavy forced induction setups.
Hennessey Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 HPE575
The Hennessey HPEE575 package follows the naming trend of the other kits from the Texas tuner, with 575 indicating the horsepower levels of the beefed-up Shelby GT350 Mustang. This is a solid jump from the 526 horsepower offered in stock form while the torque output jumps from 429lb-ft to 511lb-ft of torque.
This increase of 49 horsepower and 82lb-ft of torque comes as a result of a fairly short mod list, including a set of stainless steel long tube headers and a full stainless steel exhaust system with high flow catalytic convertors. Those are the only physical changes made to the new Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang and when the engine computer was retuned to optimize the output, Hennessey was able to squeeze out the extra power.
So for the 2015/2016 Ford Shelby GT350 Mustang, adding headers, a full exhaust system and a good tune lifts the output to 575hp and 511lb-ft of torque without any negative impact made to the weight balance or handling capabilities of this beast.
Cost and Features
Those who have a new Shelby GT350 Mustang that they feel would be better off with this extra power, you can buy the HPE575 package with installation and a 3 year/36,000 mile warranty for $6,950, but those who can install the exhaust themselves can order the parts for $4,995 (sans the warranty). In addition to the exhaust bits and the tuner, this package comes with special badges on the sides and rear of the car, a serialized interior plaque signed by John Hennessey, a serialized engine bay plaque signed by the guy who did the work and a certificate of authenticity for the whole package.
Each car will be numbered out of 100, so it seems that the company only plans to make 100 examples of this package.
