Honda Motor Company and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have announced a recall of select 2010 Accord sedans and CRV compact SUVs over a concern of stalling issues related to a wiring harness under the hood.
According to the NHTSA, a wiring harness in the engine bay area of the affected 2010 Accord and 2010 CRV models included in this recall could have been damaged during engine installation. Due to that damage, there is an increased risk of an intermittent misfire and in the worst cases, the wiring harness could lose connection enough to cause the vehicle to stall. Needless to say, a vehicle suddenly stalling in traffic increases the chances of an accident as the sudden deceleration combined with the loss of power brakes and power steering can make the vehicle much more difficult to control.
This latest Honda recall for the 2010 Accord and CRV affects roughly 2,277 vehicles and recall notices are expected to begin reach customers early next month. Owners will be instructed to return to their friendly neighborhood Honda dealership where a certified technician will examine the wiring harness in question and should it be damage, repairs will be made – free of charge to the owner.
