When Lamborghini unveiled the new Sesto Elemento at the 2010 Paris Motor Show, many thought that we were looking at the new halo performance car from the Italian supercar maker. The Sesto Elemento is comprised almost entirely from lightweight carbon-based composites, making for a curb weight of just 2,200lbs and with the 570hp drivetrain borrowed from the Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera, this new super-Lambo should be able to rip from 0-60 in roughly 2.5 seconds and reach top speeds in excess of 220mph.

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento is expected to see production limited to 20 (or less) units, carrying a price tag that could creep up on the $2 million mark – causing many to assume that this will replace the ultra-rare Reventon. Unfortunately, according to the folks at Autocar, the Sesto Elemento will be intended for track use only. This means that you won’t be likely to see this new Lambo rolling around your local streets and with a sticker price nearing a cool 2-mil, how many people are going to snatch them up for some raucous track use?

Perhaps the Sesto Elemento is more of a teaser of what is coming from Lamborghini in the next few years, as everyone is ready and waiting for the replacement to the long-running Murciélago. The Sesto Elemento shows just how light the company can make a supercar; now it’s just a matter of making a street legal version.
