The Chrysler Group announced today that when the 2012 Chicago Auto Show opens next month, their all-truck Ram brand will debut a new premium trimline in the form of the 2012 Ram Laramie Limited.
Last year, the Ram brand introduced their highest end premium trimline with the Laramie Longhorn but the heavily southwestern/rodeo theme is not for everyone so the 2012 Ram Laramie Limited has been designed to offer the same optimum level of pickup truck luxury sans the western theme. The Ram Laramie Limited package begins on the outside, where 1500 models receive a body colored front fascia with integrated fog lights along with a body colored rear bumper. Ram Laramie Limited 2500 and 3500 models also receive the painted/body colored front and rear bumpers unless the customer picks white or silver exterior paint – in which case the Laramie Limited offers chrome front and rear bumpers. All Laramie Limited models feature the chrome grille surround with billet inserts, previously found on the Ram Sport with more chrome on the body molding, door handles and Mopar side steps. The Laramie Limited 1500 comes with the standard 5.7L Hemi V8 while the 2500 and 3500 models will pack either the Hemi or the Cummins Turbo Diesel but unlike other models – the Laramie Limited does away with the flashy engine designation badges.
The 2012 Ram 1500 Laramie Limited wears the same 20 inch forged aluminum wheels as the Ram Laramie Longhorn with high gloss polished surfaces and silver painted pockets while the Ram Heavy Duty Laramie Limited (2500/3500) receive 17 inch polished aluminum wheels. 1500 Laramie Limited models are available in black, bright silver metallic, bright white, deep cherry red pearl, mineral gray metallic and true blue; Ram 2500/3500 Laramie Limited trucks come in black, bright silver metallic, bright white and mineral gray metallic.
Inside, the new Ram Laramie Limited is all about premium leather surfaces – beginning with fully leather clad front and rear seats. There is more leather on the padded center console, the steering wheel, the shifter (console shift on 1500 models, column shift on 2500 and 3500 models), the door panels, the side armrests and the dash. The areas throughout the cabin that are not covered in leather are finished in high gloss piano black, including the sides of the center stack and the door panels while chrome trim accents the mostly black interior. Next, the Ram brand has added a plethora of LED accent lighting in the inner door handles, the front and rear map pockets, and the lower footwells – allowing the occupants to get a good look at the plush Berber carpeting. Capping off the interior of the new Ram Laramie Limited are buckles in the seat backs that differ from the belt buckle style fixtures found in the Laramie Longhorn and front and rear riders are greeted by bright silver door sill guards sporting the Limited logo.
Like any proper luxury pickup, the 2013 Ram Laramie Limited features a premium touchscreen infotainment system with a backup camera system, remote start, power adjustable pedels, a heated steering wheel, cooled/ heated front seats and heated rear seats.
The 2012 Ram Laramie Limited package is available in Crew Cab and Mega Cab configurations of the 1500, 2500 and 3500 with either two or four wheel drive, a short or long wheelbase and the single or dual rear wheel for HD models. We can expect the Laramie Limited to hit showrooms in the second quarter of 2012 with pricing to follow the formal debut at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show.
