In order to help out those 2013 Ford Mustang V6 owners who are ballin’ on a budget, Roush has just introduced their new RS (Roush Six) - a special package featuring the look of the current Roush lineup with enhanced handling capacities for a low price.
The 2013 Roush RS Mustang starts with the 2013 Ford Mustang V6; packing 305 horsepower, 280lb-ft of torque and up to 31 miles per gallon on the highway and while the RS package doesn’t add any power, it is not without its performance enhancements. The modifications begin with the 19” painted aluminum wheels that are featured in the current Ford Mustang GT Brembo brake package, wrapped in high performance tires. Oddly, it looks like the 2013 RS Mustang is not equipped with the Brembo brakes but that is neither here nor there. Next, Roush improves the handling of the 2013 RS Mustang with a Roush in-house lowering kit featuring progressive rate jounce bumpers – a move that lowers the car about 1 inch and improves the overall handling of the car.
On the outside, the 2013 Roush RS Mustang includes body design changes that stem from the Roush R6 aerobody components from the Stage 1, 2 and 3 vehicles. This includes unique upper and lower grille openings, a front chin splitter, lower side skirts and a large rear decklid spoiler. The 2013 RS Mustang also includes the Roush “R” badges on the front fenders, on the grille and on the faux rear gas cap. The RS Mustang shown above on the right is also fitted with Roush rear window louvers, a Roush hood scoop and Roush graphics on the lower rockers and on the hood that are not included in the price of the standard RS package.
Inside, the 2013 Roush RS Mustang includes Roush embroidered floormats, aluminum billet performance pedals and a Roush center console badge. For an additional charge, 2013 RS Mustang package buyers can add leather charcoal seats from the Mustang GT or unique Roush sport seats, a suede steering wheel, a unique shift ball option and Roush illuminated doorsills.
"We (ROUSH) are excited to offer a ROUSH package for all levels of the Ford Mustang line up," says Tim Wheeler, VP, Sales and Marketing of ROUSH Performance. "The RS will address the Mustang V6 owner that is looking for the ROUSH touch off the showroom floor." Great fuel economy, great price point, great fun, the ROUSH RS Mustang.
The 2013 Roush RS Mustang package carries a starting price of $4,000 so when building on a base model V6 Mustang coupe, hopeful Roush owners can get into a new Roush Mustang for right around $27,995 (the least expensive V6 Mustang starts at $22,995 with destination fee).
Considering the extremely low package price for the 2013 Roush RS Mustang, this offering could definitely help entice new buyers to the Roush brand. Their high performance Mustangs have become among the most feared and respected “tuner” Mustangs on the market but with much larger price tags (and a preference towards the V8 models), the Stage 1, 2, and 3 are out of reach of some owners. However, with this new package for the fuel friendly yet surprisingly powered V6 Mustang – Roush could see a great many more of their Mustangs on the open road.
