The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall of select 2011 and 2012 Volkswagen Jetta models over a concern about the tailpipe extension being too long – increasing the risk of burns to passers-by when the car is parked after being driven.

The 2011-2012 Volkswagen Jetta models recalled are equipped with dealership-ordered tailpipe extensions that are installed at the port during importation. Unfortunately, it seems that these tailpipes tips are too long and they protrude past the lower fascia to the point where it presents a significant risk of burning those who are around the rear end of the Jetta. These metal tips get incredibly hot so for those who own a 2011 or 2012 Jetta with these dealership-optioned exhaust topics, say that you went to get something out of the truck after driving for a while and you had shorts (or a skirt) on, it could burn your leg if you touched it.
This new 2011-2012 Volkswagen Jetta recall for the elongated tailpipe extensions affects 30,294 units in the United States and the recall is expected to official begin in early November. When the Jetta exhaust recall does begin, owners will be asked to return to their local Volkswagen dealership where a technician will inspect the tailpipe tips and, if necessary – the tailpipe extensions will be removed and replaced with units that are the proper length. There should be a recall for the instrument cluster......change it out for the GLI model. I have a sportsline and.there is no temperature gauge.....???? HELLO....?A real dissapointment...from a TRUE vw enthusiast .!
