The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reporting the Volvo is recalling a limited number of 2010 XC60 sport utility vehicles due to a concern over faulty airbags. In these select few vehicles, the side curtain airbags may have been incorrectly assembled, possibly causing these side-mounted airbags to not open, or open incorrectly in the event of an accident.
The latest Volvo airbag recall affects just 58 vehicles.
The good news from this Volvo recall is that just 58 vehicles are affected by this recall and this minuscule recall will begin sometime this month. Owners can expect to receive a letter instructing them to head to their neighborhood Volvo dealership, where both the driver and passenger side airbags will be inspected and if any issues are discovered, the problem will be repaired – all free of charge.
There is no mention of any injuries stemming from this problem but in the modern age of hyper-reactive recall reporting, an airbag failure is not something that should be taken lightly.
