Drift champ Vaughn Gittin Jr. has himself a new 2015 Ford Mustang RTR race car and today, we have our first footage showing Gittin getting sideways in this season’s race car – but rather than sliding around a paved track, he has taken to the ice to show off his new muscular Mustang.
When it comes to high performance Ford Mustangs, there are few as well-known as Monster Energy-sponsored race cars of Vaughn Gittin Jr and with the debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang, it should be expected that Gittin would soon be getting a new race car. Well, that day has come, as Gittin has offered up a first look at his 2015 Mustang drift car in the best way that he knows how – sliding around a track at high speeds. However, rather than letting the RTR Mustang race car stretch its legs on a big open piece of tarmac, Gittin’s first video of the new drift car shows the high powered beast blasting around an ice-covered surface, compete with a rooster tail of snow and the familiar roar of a race-ready Ford V8.
The 2015 Ford Mustang RTR Race Car
For several years now, Vaughn Gittin Jr has been tearing up the drift racing scene in a Ford Mustang covered in the familiar livery of the Monster Energy Drink racing program while also offering private owners a chance to add some Gittin flavor to their own Mustang with his RTR packages. With the debut of the 2015 Ford Mustang, Gittin and his team were quick to roll out the newest RTR Mustang with unique styling cues from front to back while “stage” packages add varying levels of performance improvements.
To show off both the 2015 Ford Mustang RTR and the look of Vaughn Gittin Jr’s Monster Energy Racing livery, the drift champ put together a short video showing the Mustang RTR all painted up like a proper race car and since it is Vaughn Gittin Jr’s Mustang, he debuted the new car in a new video that is chock full of drifting action. There are no available details on what is packed under the hood of Gittin’s RTR Mustang race car, but based on his previous cars, I would imagine that this 2015 Mustang is relying on a NASCAR V8 engine with upwards of 850 horsepower.
Thanks to all of that power, Gittin’s Mustang race car can get sideways at high speed on pretty much any racing surface in the world, but to add that little extra special touch to this debut video, he is blasting around what looks to be a frozen lake that has been cleared to create a race track of sorts. Not surprisingly, this icy surface yields incredible drifting action with plenty of close-ups and slow-mo clips that give us a great look at the car that he will campaign in the 2015 drift championship season with a soundtrack that is dominated by the roar of a V8 so crank up your speakers and enjoy!
