The 2012 Toyota 4Runner introduced on Friday is equipped with a 4.0-liter 270-horsepower V6 engine with 5-speed ECT-i automatic transmission and comes with several options to choose from. Prices start at around $31,000 and can exceed $40,000 for a 4Runner that is well-equipped. Here's a breakdown of what extras are available for 2012, broken down by model.

2012 Toyota 4Runner base grade: A new display-type audio system delivers navigation, Toyota Entune services, XM Satellite Radio with 90-day trial subscription, HD Radio with iTunes tagging and text / email-to-speech. Once a smart phone is connected to the 4Runnere using Bluetooth wireless technology or a USB cable, Entune’s features are operated by using the vehicle’s controls or via voice recognition. Entune offers mobile apps for Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable and Pandora. An available third-row seat is split 50 / 50 and folds flat. The seats can be folded from the side, or at the rear, using separate levers. More cargo space is available without removing seats and longer items can be conveniently carried. An available pull-out cargo deck (pictured) can carry up to 440 pounds.

2012 Toyota 4Runner Limited grade: The is the only grade that offers as an option a JBL premium system with navigation. It has a 6-disk in-dash CD changer and 15 speakers. The navigation system includes a large 7-inch monitor. Other options are automatic running boards and a third-row seat that is split 50 / 50 and folds flat. Seats can be folded from the side, or at the rear, using separate 1-touch levers. An optional pull-out cargo deck can carry up to 440 pounds, to make loading heavy items easier.

2012 Toyota 4Runner SR5 grade: Automatic running boards, a leather-trimmed interior, a third-row seat that is split 50 / 50 and folds flat, a new audio system and a rear-view monitor system are available options. The monitor system displays in the rear-view mirror or navigation screen, helping to keep track of hard-to-see objects in back of the 4Runner SR5. The audio system includes navigation, Toyota Entune services, XM Satellite Radio and HD Radio with iTunes tagging and text / email-to-speech. Entune data services include a fuel price guide, sports scores, stocks, traffic and weather. The fold-flat seats deliver more cargo space without removing seats. And an optional pull-out cargo deck provides seating for tailgating and campsite relaxation.

2012 Toyota 4Runner Trail grade: The Trail grade offers Toyota’s Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System as an option. The system significantly improves terrain-following ability by dynamically disconnecting stabilizer bars to allow for more axle travel, and better suspension articulation in slow, difficult terrain. A new audio system includes navigation, Toyota Entune services, XM Satellite Radio and HD Radio with iTunes tagging and text / email-to-speech. Entune is a collection of popular mobile applications and data services, with three years of complimentary access. An optional third-row seat is split 50 / 50 and folds flat, allowing longer items to be conveniently carried. An available pull-out cargo deck carries up to 440 pounds and makes it easier to load and transport bulky cargo.
