Mazda today launched an all-new "MyMazda" iPhone App that provides owners of its sporty cars access to service offers and scheduled maintenance reminders for free. It can be downloaded from the Apple App Store. Soon, Android users will also be able to use "MyMazda," too.

The Japanese carmaker whose U.S. operations are based in Irvine, Calif., reported on its Web site this evening that "MyMazda" is one of the first automotive iPhone apps of its kind to provide customers with real-time information about their vehicles.

"MyMazda" displays recall information, maintenance schedules and vehicle service history with brake and tire inspection results.

The application also lets car owners register their vehicles with Mazda, update their contact information and choose a preferred Mazda dealer for sales and service issues.

"MyMazda" is synced with the Mazda service marketing program Mazda Customer Connect, which includes direct mail, email, appointment scheduling, mobile bar coding and a text messaging reminder feature. "MyMazda" gives Mazda owners access to custom tailored service and parts offers and promotions, features a Mazda dealer locator and provides easy access for appointment scheduling.

"MyMazda" can send reminder alerts for an upcoming maintenance appointment. And a GPS-powered car locator lets drivers input the location of their parked Mazda with a tap to find it easily later on.

"MyMazda" is the second app released by Mazda. Last year, Mazda introduced "Mazda Assist," a Mazda roadside assistance application. That app was developed in partnership with Mazda's roadside assistance partner, Cross Country Automotive Services, and is used in conjunction with Mazda's Roadside Assistance and Roadside Assistance Plus programs.

"Assisr" helps Mazda drivers obtain immediate roadside assistance to rescue them from the bad circumstance of a flat tire, out of gas, locked out of their car or in need of a tow due to a mechanical failure.

The app puts drivers directly in touch with a roadside assistance agent who can send a truck to the vehicle's exact location anytime. Originally available only on the iPhone, the Mazda Roadside Assistance app is now available on Androids as well.
