On the heels of a 73% tC coupe sales increase in June, Scion hopes that hot hand translates to even more sales for a tC that is cooler to look at and more technologically advanced. With that in mind, Scion has rolled out its second-generation tC sports coupe, a 2012 tC Release Series 7.0 that is headed to dealers in the next two months.
Scion is delivering a great car for an even greater value. Production of the 7.0 will be limited to 2,200 units that will sell at dealerships for $20,905 (manual transmission) and $21,905 (automatic). The MSRP for the base 2012 tC equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission is $18,575, and $19,575 when equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Add a $720 processing fee for all cars.
The 2012 tC 7.0 is not for an owner who wants to blend. It's going to be a chick magnet and will be as much about style as technology. It will come only in brilliant yellow paint and will be equipped with an awesome, new Pioneer audio system equipped with Bluetooth hands-free, Bluetooth streaming audio and HD Radio technology.
The television ad campaign for the 2012 limited edition model stars Zeus, who uses a lightning bolt to create the "High Voltage tC" 7.0 all by himself from his Mount Olympus throne. After he makes the car, Zeus drives it with style as his Muse chills in it from the passenger seat. You can see the 30-second spot for yourself on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/v/Sa1XbhJDN8k.
The only thing that's not High Voltage yellow on the exterior are the black side-view mirrors and black 18-inch alloy wheels. The tC’s aggressive exterior is punctuated with a body kit that includes front and rear lower valences and side skirts. The front bumper incorporates a unique honeycomb lower grille.
The tC 7.0 has super cool black and yellow seat fabric, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with yellow stitching and an individually numbered badge. The car has Smart Key keyless entry and a red push-button start. The 7.0 is the first Scion to get Smart Key.
A big draw for the new tC 7.0 is its Pioneer audio system. It offers AM/FM/CD/HD/USB 300-watt maximum output with Bluetooth connectivity. This allows hands-free phone connection and streaming audio capability and HD Radio.
The system has an organic electroluminescent screen that can be personalized. The USB port and universal auxiliary port on the console lets people in the car listen to their portable music collection through the tC’s eight Pioneer speakers.
The optional 340-watt maximum output Pioneer Premium audio system adds a 5.8-inch LCD touch-screen display, iTunes tagging and Pandora Internet radio and six RCA outputs to add amplifiers.
All tC models come standard with Scion Service Boost, which provides factory-scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles.
