The Acura TSX Special Edition will have different body styling and an upgraded interior, but won't come with the optional V6.
Though Acura's current entry-level TSX model is starting to show its age a bit, parent company Honda has one more model in store to try and keep things fresh. Acura announced today the addition of an SE model to the current TSX lineup, saying that it will be "even more youthful and sporty in character." The TSX SE model will get a front spoiler, a different rear bumper, 17" alloy wheels, and a Special Edition badge on the trunk. Inside, the TSX SE will get leather seating with red stitching and faux suede inserts, and red backlighting for the instrument cluster and other parts of the interior.
Though the TSX Special Edition will be available with either a six-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission, it will only use the base model's 2.4L 201-hp 4cyl engine instead of the optional 3.5L 280hp V6 that became available in the TSX last year. Neither will the TSX wagon get the Special Edition treatment. Thus, if you want the nicer interior and styling of the TSX SE, you'll have to settle for a sedan with a four-banger.
Acura hasn't announced pricing on the TSX Special Edition yet, but says it will appear at the Orange County International Auto Show next month, and go on sale shortly thereafter. It's possible that this very minor model upgrade means that this is the last hurrah for the current TSX and that an all-new model may start making appearances soon.
