The fourth-generation Lexus GS will make its world debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance next month.
Lexus has announced that the next GS sedan will make its world debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance happening next month. We know that the entry-level model will remain as the GS 350 model. What remains to be seen will be whether it will retain the current model's 3.5L 2GR-FSE V6 engine or whether Toyota will design an all-new engine for the new model.
The Lexus GS hasn't received a significant update since its full redesign in 2006. A hybrid model called the Lexus GS 450h joined the lineup in 2007, and the GS 460 with the bigger 1UR-FSE 4.6L V8 engine replaced the outgoing 4.3L in 2008. Other than a barely-noticeable facelift at the same time (pictured), the GS line has been unchanged since its update, and sales have begun to languish as a result.
No pricing on the new Lexus GS model has been revealed yet, but Mark Templin, vice president and general manager of Lexus, said "Our customers have been waiting for a new GS that's more intense in every way, [and] they'll soon discover this GS was well worth the wait." The Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is taking place August 18th.
