BMW is celebrating the 40th anniversary of it's M performance division with a special edition BMW M3 coupe, the M3 Frozen Silver Edition. The US has already been graced with this special edition BMW and now it is our British friend's turn to enjoy it as it's being released in the United Kingdom (UK).
What makes this M3 special? The new BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Silver Edition features BMW’s amazing 420-horsepower V8 engine that produces 400 pounds of Torque. It transfers all those horses to the road via the standard seven-speed manual DCT transmission and variable M differential. The special M3 coupe comes with a 10mm lowered suspension featuring a three-stage Electronic Damper Control, 19-inch light alloy wheels and a revised DSC+ system.
The BMW M3 Coupe Frozen Silver Edition can go from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and is electronically limited to 155 mph. It supposedly will get a reasonable 25.2 average mpg rating.
The interior and exterior will feature special touches too. The Frozen Silver metallic paint has not been seen before on any BMW. As well as the matte black alloy wheels, Dark Chrome exhaust, side gills and kidney surrounds, and Jet Black bonnet intakes all which set this M3 apart from others. A High-gloss Shadowline exterior trim completes the exterior's badass look.
Inside you will find Black Novillo leather with contrast stitching and Palladium leather armrests and inserts. The steering wheel is sheathed in Alcantara and comes complete with an M3 chequered flag motif, while the door sills feature a similar logo. Carbon fiber is obviously generously applied to the interior to highlight the sportiness of this special edition M3, and the handbrake has M Power stitched onto it. As well you are assured this is special edition car, as there is a plaque to highlight the limited edition nature of the car.
The new BMW M3 Coupé Frozen Silver Edition adds a hefty $14,450 (£9,000 British pounds) dollars compared to a standard M3. However BMW is cutting you a break with an add-on cost of just $6,400 (£4,000.)
Just 100 of the high performance coupes will be sold in the UK, but obviously the model features unique content to make it a truly collectable item. The car goes on sale in the UK on June 1st, 2012.
News of the latest and greatest M car to go on sale in the UK comes as the country remains an important market for BMW and M products. Despite the tough economic climate in Britain, BMW UK sold 789 M3 Coupés in 2011, which was a 10 percent increase over the previous year.
