Chreos EV Will Have You turned Onto To Electric Cars

Work for Torque News, follow on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook.

Once in a while, a company produces a proof of concept that defies any of the accepted conventions. This Silex Power electric super car, the Chreos EV is but a glimpse into the near future of the electric car.

Chreos EV? Ever heard about it? Chances are not, and you could be understood since most people probably haven’t. So what is this Chreos EV? This is the electric car you would have that would shut almost any naysayers about electric vehicles (EV). The Chreos is according to Silex Power; a force of nature," a "fluid form... the pinnacle of technological innovation. It's the epitome of elegance and luxury, a synopsis of the superior class... the most technologically vehicle ever conceived. It's the dawn of a new era in electric mobility” And upon these highly eulogized words, what we have here is nonetheless a stunning electric car.

Technically Speaking. This beast sports no less than 640 horsepower with about 3,245 Lb-ft of torque. The Chreos can easily sprint to about 186 MPH with a zero to 62 mph in under 2.9 seconds. By now, many have heard about an electric car that packs a lot of performance but usually, these EVs have little range. Yes a Tesla Motors Model S can go up to 260 and even closer to 300 under the right environment, but range is still what it is. The Chreos should alleviate your fears with a healthy 621 miles of range. Yes, that is much more than your current gasoline car. How does it work? Glad you asked.

Charging Fast & Hyperfast. The world of flashy marketing terms is about to get worse as each new charging innovation brings us closer to charging as fast as putting gasoline in a car. If Level 1 is all but unacceptable these days for most electric car drivers. Level 2 has become a minimum and Level 3, or Fast Charging is the preferred choice cutting in half the time it takes the others. But Hypercharging has also just landed on our planet and this boasts faster than fast!

Essentially the electric sedan looks like a modern Citroen sedan that shows space but with a certain aerodynamic elegance. The website will show you something quickly, this electric car doesn’t exist... just yet. What it does show is that the Chreos EV is an electric car that shows you a glimpse into the future, designed by Silex Power, a company involved with renewable energy and sustainable development markets.

How utterly ridiculous, adding enough batteries to give this thing a range over 600 miles will $40-50,000 over the cost of the base Tesla. Yet they claim a recharge can be done in under 10 minutes. My question is why would I pay $50,000 extra if I can simply charge up a battery half the size a little more frequently instead?

Hi Rob, yes in the new EV frontier, there are real tings and there are those things that make people dream. The Chreos is not a real car, obviously but hints at what will happen eventually, over 500 mile range electric cars. It's more about the reaction it elicits then the technicalities it needs to overcome. Then again, your reaction shows me there are readers who understand electric cars well. Thanks, Nicolas

For me range is a necessity - there are places where one needs close to 1000km range to make an electric vehicle viable and obviously cold temperatures impact range as well - makes me ask the question will there ever be an electric car that would be functional in remote and cold climate or would it be any savings since it would cost $400/month with electrical consumption just to heat the batteries at -40C -- I'm thinking might not be in my life time -- but I can dream -- I'm electric car convert ever since I saw the documentary on the Japanese concept car developed by 2 professors - the battery was the issue then and is the challenge for the future.
