When it comes to electric cars, EV, CODA has one alternative that should please many in terms of range and everyday use, and now with a favored GE WattStation charging station installation partner, Mr. Electric.
CODA Automotive just named its favored electric service and repair company Mr. Electric as its preferred provider of electric vehicle supply equipment installation services, EVSE. Choosing Mr. Electricity was based on its 20 years of experience in electrical installation and repair services throughout the U.S. and Canada, where it has proven to be a reliable partner. The deal will allow Mr. Electric to offer a complete experience for new EV drivers with consultation and installation services of your CODA electric vehicle’s charging station.
About CODA. For those of you who don’t know CODA Automotives yet, the EV start up was founded in 2009 with an impressive team of engineers. With Miles Rubin, Founder & Chairman Emeritus at the helm, the team consists of Steven "Mac" Heller as the Executive Chairman and Philip Murtaugh as its CEO, as well as John Bryson, Alan Chesick, Lord John Brown, James McGinnis, Daniel Weiss, Niall Davis, as Directors. You might recognize the name Miles Rubin as the person behind the Miles Electric Vehicles that successfully imported and distributed Chinese electric cars that took campuses by storm in the US.
Technically Speaking. The CODA is an impressive car in many ways. I had a chance to test drive it a while back and found it to be zippy yet comfortable and yet again, the perfect solution for urban to suburban use. The body of the car is from China but the CODA Automotive team really put a lot of work into it. The EV is powered with 31 kWh lithium ion iron phosphate, LiFePO4 battery pack stated to go 88 miles, all inclusive city and highway. Last time I spoke with the company’s engineers, they told they achieved over 100 in some cases. Back by a 3-year, 36,000 mile limited warranty and 10-year, 100,000 mile limited warranty for the battery system, the car makes for a good sedan option for those wishing to drive electric. Obviously at $37,250, the EV will appeal to early adopters but all incentives included, the price drops down to around $30,000, which makes it more reasonable.
Energy Management. Where CODA will surprise you and differentiates itself from the competition is in its in energy management system. After creating its global joint-venture with global battery cell supplier Lishen Power Battery for the design, manufacture and sale of its battery systems called LIO Energy Systems, the group developed a lithium iron phosphate battery cell specifically for transportation. It can also be used for renewable energy storage. The EV actively manages its battery by monitoring humidity levels as far down as electronic relays throughout the car, thus insuring an ideal working environment. CODA forgoes the usual liquid cooled battery pack system and uses air to keep the pack performing at peak levels.
The Mr. Electricity Deal. According to Thomas Hausch, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Aftersales: “As the installation of a home charging station is an integral part of the EV adoption process, we want to ensure our customers have a reliable and knowledgeable single contact to make installation a seamless experience. We selected Mr. Electric as our preferred installation partner based on their vast experience in EVSE installations. We look forward to working closely with Mr. Electric and our dealer network to make the process of going electric a reality for CODA drivers.” Making sure EV drivers have a good experience using their electric cars is crucial to the adoption process. Using the GE WattStation(i) Wall Mount as its EV charging station of choice, the station offers a fast, easy-to-use Level 2 EV charger that can charge the EV in as little as four to eight hours compared to standard overnight charging that can be installed with Mr. Electric.
One thing the CODA EV has going for it is its traditional design. For those who do not care for futuristic EV designs, the CODA Automotives gives you a traditional sedan that uses a whisper soothing quiet electric ride, charged with its GE WattStation(i) Wall Mount with a little help from Mr. Electricity.
