On October 29, the streets of Austin, Texas will be taken over by Infiniti Red Bull Racing and the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge supercar.
International Formula One racing is hitting the streets of Austin, Texas just before Halloween. On October 29, Sebastien Vettel, four-time F1 World Champion, will pilot the 560-horsepower Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype up and down Congress Avenue. Accompanying him will be Daniel Ricciardo, his teammate and a rising star in F1, behind the wheel of the Infiniti Red Bull 2011 Championship Formula One car.
The event is to kick off the annual United States Grand Prix race weekend, which begins at noon central time on the corner of Congress Avenue and 7th Street at the foot of the Texas Capital building. The drivers will be introduced and then commence high-speed runs on both cars.
A drivers' parade will let spectators see the drivers up close before some lucky people in the crowd are chosen to ride in the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype with either Vettel or Ricciardo at the wheel. The two will also take turns showcasing the performance of both the Eau Rouge and the Formula One Car to promote the race genre and introduce Austin to the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge and the Infiniti Red Bull Racing squad.
"Infiniti is kicking off the U.S. Grand Prix in true Austin style," said Allyson Witherspoon, director of Marketing Communications and Media for Infiniti USA. "Having Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo drive the actual 2011 championship car and the Formula One-inspired Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge prototype up and down Congress Avenue is sure to be a memorable moment for F1 fans."
