Think of it as a jigsaw puzzle with an engine in it. It's a new concept car from NRMA Insurance that is made up of all the "extra" parts that insurers often leave off of coverage, which can leave drivers hanging when something happens. If you can think of a cool name for this jalopy, they'll give you $10,000 as a thank you.
This hodge-podge of extra parts and leftover accessories doesn't have a name. Why? Because NRMA Insurance wants someone to name it for them and will pay $10,000 to the one who does.
NRMA is an Australian auto insurer that's created this concept junker as an advertising campaign to show how their competition may be cutting things you'd think of as "standard" from policies in order to save a few bucks. The campaign will feature this car and the winning name in print, outdoor display, and YouTube as well as other online content.
The campaign's initial 30-second ad spot shows the car being built, starting wit ha sled from an unidentified vehicle that is then covered in miscellaneous parts and accessories that may or may not make sense, but that are all "extras" that might not be automatically covered. Extras include special edition molding, alloy wheels, snorkels, up-fit or specialized seating, cargo carrier racks, bumper guards, push bars, antennas, aftermarket mirrors, fog lamps, etc.
If you can come up with a name for the car, you can win ten thousand. The ad campaign is accepting names on its NRMA Car Creation page. Make sure to check the contest rules before you enter.
The 30-second spot includes a guy with a nice, generic haircut, a TV announcer's voice, and a Crocodile Dundee accent. Plus the car. Check it out:
