On April 19th and 20th at the 2013 Cruisin' Nocona auction in Texas, two rare Z06 'Vettes will be offered up for auction after coming out of storage.
The two Corvettes were stored for decades and have been pulled out to be put on the auction block by the Vicari Auction Company. They'll appear in Nocona, Texas at the annual Cruisin' Nocona collector car auction and classic car poker cruise on April 19th and 20th.
The two classics are rare Z06 Corvette models, a gold 1963 (pictured) and a black 1962. They are virtually all-original and were stored since the 1980s.
"These exceptional Corvettes add even more excitement to our auction, as our roster of high quality, difficult-to-find classic automobiles continues to grow for Cruisin' Nocona," said Pete Vicari, president, Vicari Auction Co. "Both vehicles are in excellent condition and any classic Corvette collector will find them to be highly sought-after."
The 1962 Fuelie Corvette has a 4.56:1 differential and less than 60,000 miles on its original engine. It was one of only 254 to be built that year in Chevrolet's 687 racing formula (called "Big Brake" by enthusiasts). It has a four-speed manual transmission, 360 horsepower fuel injected 327 V8, heavy-duty shocks, fast steering adaptor, finned brake drums with internal cooling fans, and air scoops ("elephant ears"). These are factory options. The car was originally painted British Racing Green and then painted black before storage. It has both a rag and hard top (both original) and a well-documented history.
The 1963 split window Z06 Corvette is also well-documented and is one of only 199 Z06 Coupes to be produced that year. It uses the top-rated (for the time) 360 hp Rochester fuel injected 327, a four-speed manual transmission, and the same Big Brakes package as the '62. It has only 38,000 original miles on it and sports its original black interior and the original paint color (repainted since it left the factory). The only non-original part on the car is the master cylinder.
These are two rare and awesome finds that someone (or someones) will drive away with in a couple of weeks!
