A newly released deleted scene depicts the all-new Acura RDX in a futuristic Acura showroom.
Have you ever wondered what car dealerships might look like in the future? Well, a newly released deleted scene from the summer blockbuster The Avengers may just shed some light on the question.
The clip, available on the film’s new Blu-ray copy, shows Steve Rogers/Captain America walking by an ultramodern Acura dealership, which houses an all-new Acura RDX. Aside from featuring the car itself, the innovative showroom also projects the vehicle’s name on specs on the shop window.
Although the RDX was omitted from the film’s final cut, Acura’s fingerprints were all over The Avengers. As filmgoers may recall, The Avengers featured a wide array of Acura models including the MDX, ZDX, and TL. In fact, Acura supplied all the vehicles for S.H.I.E.L.D., a fictitious espionage and secret military law-enforcement agency portrayed in the movie. Acura also served as the official vehicle in Thor, which featured the MDX, ZDX, RL, and TL.
In addition to the several Acura vehicles driven by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, the most notable Acura featured in The Avengers was the NSX owned by Tony Stark/Iron Man played by Robert Downey Jr. Stark drives off in the NSX supercar in the movie’s final scene along with fellow Avenger Bruce Banner/The Hulk.
The primary difference between the NSX and the other Acura vehicles featured in the film is that the Acura NSX is currently only a concept model. In fact, Stark’s dark red NSX was manufactured specifically for the film. The NSX concept was also featured in an advertisement featuring Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno, which began airing in February. The NSX will not be released until 2015.
While the NSX may have been Stark’s vehicle of choice in The Avengers, the billionaire playboy previously opted for an Audi R8 in Iron Man and an R8 Spyder in Iron Man 2.
The Avengers is currently available on Blu-ray 3D and DVD.
