Mazda’s outstanding CX-5 compact crossover continues to win awards.
The J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study looks at how much owners like their vehicle after 90 days of ownership. About 84,000 vehicle owners are quizzed about what they do and don’t like. The study uses eight categories of vehicle performance and design: engine/transmission; ride, handling and braking; comfort/convenience; seats; cockpit/instrument panel; heating, ventilation and cooling; sound system; and styling/exterior. The highest ranked vehicles in their segments are awarded the top ranking by J.D. Power and Associates. In the compact SUV category, the 2015 Mazda CX-5 was this year’s winner. It beat out runners-up the GMC Terrain and the Subaru Forester.
The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is no stranger to winning awards. Just this month the refreshed 2016 CX-5 won the Car and Driver Editor’s Choice Award in its category. Perhaps Car and Driver voiced the main reason that the car did so well among the J.D. Power and Associates respondents when it said “…a great choice for parents who haven't given up on driving something fun.”
Those parents also don’t have to give up on safety. The CX-5 with its advanced available forward collision prevention earned the highest score possible on the IIHS’ crash tests and earned the Top Safety Pick Plus award every year since 2014. The CX-5 is also a great value according to the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association (GAMMA) who named it the best family car value in their recent ranking.
