Toyota’s Sienna is currently the only minivan that earns top safety scores. A new award says it is also the best in resale value.
This week the 2015 Toyota Sienna took home top honors in Kelly Blue Book’s Best Resale Value Awards in the minivan category. The Sienna retains fully 57.9% of its value after 36 months and 44.3% after 5 years. No other vehicle in its class comes close. The Sienna beats the second place finisher by more than six percentage points. If you were assuming that the Honda Odyssey was number two, guess again. It is the Ford Transit Van.
In its commentary about the Sienna award, Kelly Blue Book called the Sienna “...one of the leaders of the segment, available with all-wheel drive, a solid reputation for reliability, tons of cargo space, and flexible seating options for up to 8 passengers.”
2015 Sienna Awards and Updates
This new ranking comes just a few weeks after the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave only the Sienna its top safety rating, the Top Safety Pick Plus for 2015. The Honda Odyssey and Kia Sedona do not have advanced forward collision prevention available and that is a requirement to be ranked at the top. The Sienna received a refresh for 2015. Changes include a new interior and exterior design.
Toyota’s Tacoma, Tundra, and 4Runner among other Toyota vehicles also are rated highest in their category. Tacoma is the number one vehicle for resale value of any type.
