Bridgestone’s new Blizzak LT is designed specifically for heavy-duty pickups and large SUVs.
Bridgestone has just announced that it has expanded its large pickup and SUV winter tire line with the Blizzak LT. The new addition will increase the company’s coverage to about 93% of all large truck and SUV tire sizes.
Winter tires work. Ask anyone who owns them. All-season tires have their merits, but when temperatures drop and the roads are slushy, snowy, or icy, the compound and design of an all-season tires reveals its weaknesses. Winter tires outperform all-season tires not just in acceleration, but in more critical aspects of handling like stopping and turning.
Most importantly, remember that winter tires cost you almost nothing.
The Torque News family has members with Blizzaks on their vehicles, and we are true fans of the brand and the concept of winter tires. Note that Torque News does not accept directly paid advertisements, and this story is not a paid placement.
"The Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire is the next-generation in winter performance for heavy-duty pickup trucks and SUVs," said Erik Seidel, president, consumer replacement tire sales, U.S. and Canada, Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations. "Light truck customers are demanding a dedicated winter tire that allows them to easily navigate the nastiest winter conditions season after season, and the Blizzak LT tire delivers."
The new compound and tread design feature 30% more biting edges and improved hydroplaning protection. The new Bridgestone Blizzak LT tire will be manufactured in North America at the company's passenger and light truck tire manufacturing facility in Joliette, Quebec. It should be noted that Quebec is one of the Canadian provinces that mandates winter tires. Look for the new Blizzak LT next season. It goes on sale in July, which is the last month any of us will be worried about this new tire!
