A new vehicle has just been added to the Mazda lineup.
Tom Donnelly, the President and CEO of Mazda North America, introduced the new CX-70 two-row midsized SUV today in a webcast.
The CX-70 is larger than the CX-50 and smaller than the CX-90 vehicle built on the Mazda large vehicle platform. All CX-70 powertrains feature electrified powertrains. Customers can choose from an e-SkyActiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo engine with a hybrid-electric powertrain or an e-SkyActiv G plug-in hybrid-electric powertrain.
With ample cargo space and more passenger room than the CX-50 and CX-5, the CX-70 will offer Mazda shoppers a new five-passenger option. If we could draw an analogy between the CX-70 and CX-90, it would be the Honda Pilot and Honda Passport.
Mr. Donnelly and a product manager from Mazda shared that the CX-70 is designed as an active lifestyle vehicle. The vehicle seems perfect for moderate towing and other tasks that the CX-50 and CX-5 are just a smidge less capable of performing.
Mazda’s march toward the premium segment continues with the CX-70. Premium materials are used throughout the cabin. Options and features like a heated steering wheel, active headlights, and phone integration were on display in the webcast. The Mazda rotary-knob infotainment system controller lives on. The exterior style of the CX-70 is athletic and sleek. It appears to mimic the CX-90 in many ways.
