It’s never easy being neighbors with a racetrack. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and Mazda do what they can to help the neighbors' causes.
Having been fortunate enough to spend some days at racetracks, I have learned that not all the neighbors are jumping for joy about the noise and traffic that goes hand-in-hand with racing. Mazda’s sponsorship of Raceway Laguna Seca is appreciated by the automotive community. Mazda is doing what it can to make sure that the rest of the actual community is happy to hear the Mazda name as well.
Laguna Seca's Furry Neighbors
Across Rt. 68 from one of the best raceways in America is the Monterey County Society for the Protection from Cruelty to Animals (SPCA.) Mazda this week donated $25,000 to help the SPCA carry out its mission. My sister and aunt have for years been hosting yard sales to support the MSPCA (Mass. SPCA), so a donation of this size is surely very welcome by the folks in Monterey.
SPCA Names Pets After Drivers
As Gary Tiscornia, SPCA Executive Director explains it, Mazda and its employees didn’t simply mail a check. They take an active role in the SPCA’s mission. Tisconia said, "Mazda always goes above and beyond in supporting our work for the animals. Mazda staff take animal protection personally. They bring drivers to the SPCA Adoption Pavilion to meet the pets named after them and always provide us opportunities to share in exciting Mazda programs at the historic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. We are very grateful for their support."

That is a very large donation
That is a very large donation for an SPCA. I used to process donations and there were very, very few that came in that amount in my many years working at the MSPCA.
