The new 2019 Ram 1500 North Edition offers equipment and capabilities not found on other full-size light duty pickup trucks. If you live where winter is approaching, this is your pickup truck.

Middleboro, Mass.
Ram launched its 2019 1500 North Edition pickup truck last night to a venue packed with the New England Motor Press Association (NEMPA) members. To say the membership was impressed would be an understatement. Ram wowed the audience with the new North Edition, which has been outfitted with every conceivable feature to tame a "wicked wintah."

NEMPA is one of the few organizations in the world that conducts comprehensive, real-world winter vehicle testing. Ram, Dodge, and Jeep are no strangers to segment wins with the Wrangler, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Renegade, and even the AWD Challenger GT. However, in the pickup segment, the Ram is the present Winter Pickup of New England. Ram says that it built the new North Edition with input from the NEMPA membership, but this truck isn't just for New England. It will be arriving at dealers across American in areas that see snow.

So what makes the Ram 1500 North Edition so special? First up, tires. The North Edition Ram 1500 comes standard with winter-rated three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) Falken LT tires. Among the 40 or so industry professionals in attendance last night, not one could name a previous light truck that shipped from the factory with tires rated for snow and ice. All-wheel drive and four-wheel drive are important in winter, but for on-road turning and stopping no other technology matches winter-rated rubber.

Next up, an electronic locking rear differential that does not have to be in 4WD to be actuated. Coupled with the four drive modes that Ram makes available, the North Edition is ready for icy-paved-roads, deep snow over pavement, and all forms of off-road and dirt road situations. The North Edition also features a one-inch lift and air suspension.

Inside, the Ram 1500 North Edition has heated seats, of course, but also a heated steering wheel and mirrors. Other winter-taming features include a remote start, engine block heater, and Mopar waterproof and slush-ready floor mats.

The Ram 1500 North Edition is based on the Big Horn trim and available in Crew Cab 4x4, short bed or long bed cab body styles with the eTorque 3.6-liter Pentastar or 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8. The North Edition starts at $47,585 including destination. Look for it at dealers in the coming weeks, or place your order now.

If they would deal with the frozen side window derailing issue, that would do it for me (I can get my own winter tires).

WOW some genius got paid to figure out that snow tires actually works in to snow. How about rustproofing so it done look like crap on 5 years, why can Audi dip the body in a vat so it don’t rust for the last 20 years ( just saying)
