A new video showing the Ford Ranger in production lets slip the tire size used. Comparing Ford Ranger Raptor's tires with toyota Tacoma TRD Pro's and Chevy Colorado ZR2's tires.

A new video showing the Ford Ranger Raptor in production in Thailand has revealed the tire choice Ford made for the new sport off-road truck.

Ford Ranger Raptor Tires (Asia Pacific)
We watched the video closely and took the still image from it you see at the top of this post. With a bit of magnification, we discerned that the tire size is 285/70R17. For the Asia/Pacific market, Ford has chosen B.F. Goodrich All-Terrain Baja Champion tires. We presume these are KO2s.

Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Tires (U.S. Market)
The Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro presently is fitted with 265/70R16 tires. Therefore, the Ranger Raptor's tires are both taller and wider than the Tacoma's. Toyota has been back and forth on brands but is using the Goodyear Wrangler with Kevlar at this time.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Tires:
The Colorado ZR2 has 265/65R17 tires. So, if our information is correct, the new Ranger Raptor will now have the biggest tire offering among these three. GM selected Goodyear Duratrac tires for its Colorado that it says resides in a "segment of one."

Want more tire info? The Nissan Frontier Pro 4X uses 265/75/R16 Hankook Dynapro off-road tires and the Honda Ridgeline comes with 18-inch all-season tires.

What do you think of Ford's tire choice for the Asia/Pacific Ranger Raptor? Do you think it will carry-over to the U.S. market in 2019?

I find it hard to compare trucks based on something so simple as a tire. Because frankly all those tires suck and all can be changed out very easily.

Tires that come from the factory are always garbage. Including the Tacoma tires. Those Goodyear Kevlar rubbish tires have zero traction, it's basically a highway tire.

Being a tire guy I love this post. Most tires even the KO2 is very overrated. Testing and tried. I do feel the zr2 came out with the best traction tire ( not in the bunch) .... but still has it ms faults, but hey if you are going to run multi terrains then maybe you should of having more then one tire ready to go. They do in most oval and circles tracks... Am I correct?
