The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek is at dealers now and Japan already has a XV Crosstrek STI package available. When will fans see one in the U.S.?
The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek is arriving at dealers now and there’s already a Subaru XV STI demo model now in Japan. We know STI is stepping up their presence in the U.S. market and announced at the 2015 New York International Auto Show 2015 that Subaru Tecnica International Inc. (STI) will expand its influence in the U.S. market.
Subaru says STI will expand their presence in three key areas. STI’s future activities in their largest market, the U.S., will include expansion of the STI-brand aftermarket parts as well as introduction of complete STI-tuned cars like the BRZ tS and Forester tS Japan models that haven’t been offered in the U.S. In the motorsports area, STI is already increasing its engineering presence in SRT USA’s GRC team that runs the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI in the Red Bull Global Rallycross Championship.

Subaru said more models tuned by STI will be available in the U.S. in the future. These STI-enhanced Subaru’s could feature more extensive modifications from the factory than previously offered, such as suspension, performance, braking, chassis and aerodynamic upgrades. Subaru also reports that STI-engineered parts will replace Subaru Performance Tuning (SPT) aftermarket parts in the U.S. market.
Fans could see a Subaru Crosstrek STI like the demo model pictured above in the Japan market. The Japan XV, with an STI performance package, comes with a variety of STI performance parts like a large rear spoiler, a special STI exhaust with Sport dual mufflers, tower bar and draw stiffener that improves handling in the small crossover. Look for Subaru and STI to introduce a new Crosstrek STI model in the U.S. market. Stay tuned.

So the STi Crosstrek will
So the STi Crosstrek will have no engine improvements? A turbo Crosstrek would sell like crazy...
I have to agree and many
I have to agree and many others on other forums keep saying it: GIVE US ANOTHER ENGINE OPTION!
The only reason I haven't
The only reason I haven't traded in my 2006 Subaru Baja turbo for the crosstrek is because of the sluggish motor. If they offered this with either a v6 or turbo v4, I'd be driving one NOW!!!
